https://www.remington.com/rifles/bolt-action/model-700/model-700-5-r-series-gen-2 Does anyone have experience with any of these rifles? Looking particularly at accuracy and build quality. Anyone use theirs with a suppressor? Thanks in advance!

    RIP RC Model sad news

Wow, I have been away from the boards for a while and just saw this. How sad; he sure will be missed. When I would post a question to the board, I always hoped he would reply. I hope all his family is doing well with all they have been going through. Best wishes to them.

Great customer service from Lee Precision

I had a recent experience with them regarding a machined part out of spec, and they took care of it quickly. All handled via email.

How to pour from 8lb jug without making a mess?

Ha ha! I did not see pg. 2 until after I posted! Paper funnels--yeah!!! I will have to try Lost Sheep's method; I just used trial & error.

How to pour from 8lb jug without making a mess?

I just made a big paper funnel out of 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper. You can make a cone at first, then cut the tip off for a spout. Stiffer paper works better. I use this for transferring from 8lbs to 1lb, pouring in powder measure and return to jug afterwards. The best part - no static!!!

How to get rid of Gun smell?

I can smell some metals too, but I've never really analyzed it! Once upon a time, I had an FFL and sold Sig pistols. I don't know what they used for lube, but it would consistently set me off on a sneezing fit! I got pretty fast at verifying the serial numbers and getting the case closed...

Problem with .223 reloads - bell at shoulder base

I have been seating and crimping in the same operation. I did follow the die instructions for doing that. I will try seating without the crimp and see if it will help group size any. (I did not start crimping due to some issue, but rather because it "logically" seemed like the best thing to...

Problem with .223 reloads - bell at shoulder base

Thanks for all the comments! I think I will stop crimping and see how that goes.

Problem with .223 reloads - bell at shoulder base

Recently, I was in a rifle match with 3 jams. The offending cartridges are in the attached photos. What happened in each case was that the cartridge would not chamber fully and had to be ejected. And, it took a lot of force pulling the charging handle to get the cartridge out! I've only...

Udderly Smooth - Ingredients safe for reloading?

I have been looking for an alternative case lube that works for my process. Let me say up front that I use wet tumbling with SS pins. I don't do a second tumble and do not have vibratory stuff to do it anyway. Nor do I want to! This stuff seems to work well with my limited amount of...

    Reloading bench height and depth....

^^^ My "rule of thumb" for the benchtop. Although, my press is fastened to a shelf that is 50" off the floor. It was what I found worked well for me from trial & error. This puts all the press activity at a good eye sight distance for me (5'11").

300 Blackout powder and bullet questions

Before you load up a bunch of rounds with the 110gr. carbine bullet, make a couple of dummy rounds. Put them in a magazine and try cycling them in your gun. I did this only to find out that the M4 cutouts on mine would not let the blunt nose of the carbine bullets chamber! BTHPs work no...

    metal pin media question

I let evaporate in a plastic bucket in the garage or outside in nice weather. I've only seen one or two pins rust in a few years of doing this. And that was after not using them for several months.

Need books with some sort of value for a collection

I have been tasked to come up with some books by end of day tomorrow(!) that will give approximate values for older guns. The "newest" is probably around 70 years old. There are flintlocks and other muzzleloaders in this collection, along with centerfires; both pistols and rifles. I...

    looking for 223/556 dies

I use Lee dies, only the full sizer and seater. I adjust the seater to put a crimp on the neck for cannelures. I also run the cases through an L.E. Wilson case gage after sizing.

    Question on wet tumbling process.

This was just starting to take off when I was beginning to reload. I chose to go this route vs. dry tumbling due to the dust involved with dry. I've never regretted it. Lemi Shine at WalMart.

    WARNING! Defective Winchester Ammo!

About a week ago had a misfire in white box .223 45gr. from Walmart. I fired most of the rest of the box without incident. Primer fired with no/bad powder and lodged a bullet in the barrel, in an AR!
