I just finished a 10.5" upper, I was able to find a shop 60 miles away with a few pounds of Accurate 5744. The data I've seen for it starts at 125 gr. Bullets. Has anyone tried loading the 110 gr. M1 Carbine round nose bullets? Thoughts, they would be for plinking, unless they worked out for up close. They're pretty cheap to shoot. How about powder load, or any other powders, other than the usual sold out ones, since this has become so popular.

I don't load the 300 Blackout but my shooting buddy does. He uses a 110gr 30 Carbine bullet all the time because he has 10's of Thousands of them. He uses H110/W296 or Lil'Gun with good results. (I have shot a lot of them)

Sorry I have no information on 110gr bullets and AA5744 and I wouldn't want to guess and give you bad info...

No reason it wouldn't "work". AA 5744 has data for other heavier weights. My guess is they don't list data for 110/110 Gr bullets is you can't get enough powder in the case to get good velocities. If you just want a plinker round and don't mind it being slow, it should work. I tried some .30 Carbine bullets in my 300 BLK but they didn't feed so hot (Maybe it was my OAL), and I didn't have enough of them laying around to put too much effort into it.

When I started loading for .300 BLK, I did a lot of lurking on various forums and found depending on the gas tube length of your upper (pistol vs carbine), some powders worked better than others to reliably cycle the bolt and hold open on last round. While many powders worked, some powders worked better and produced greater accuracy depending on the bullet weight/type and whether supersonic/subsonic.

Some even use fast burning pistol/shotgun powders such as Red Dot/W231/Unique/N320/AA5 for single shot/bolt action loads.

I have found this link to be very helpful and A5744 was tested on the thread - http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86656

I have a 16" upper with a pistol length gas tube and have narrowed my powder choices to H110/W296/A1680/H4198/H4227 as they were popular on various forums.

Many thanks, as usual I get great help from you folks, guess I'll order some x-treme 110's. I did find a can of 7.62x39's that measured .308, I'll pull a few and recheck, maybe I'll be able to get enough 125's to at least get the gas block dialed in. I failed to mention it is a 10.5" 1 in 8" pistol length adj. gas block with Melonite finish from Radical Arms. I'll put a plug in for "Red Barn Armory" Veteran owned, incredible customer service and prices. Anyway we actually have spring weather out here so I'll quit ruinning my fingers and get to work so I can go out and try out my new Caldwell Chrono and upper. Of course I've got probably a dozen rifle, pistol and shotgun powders none of them were listed for 300 Blk. Thanks again

I have had good luck with AA #9, 2400, Enforcer, and 1680 with supersonic loads.

Before you load up a bunch of rounds with the 110gr. carbine bullet, make a couple of dummy rounds. Put them in a magazine and try cycling them in your gun.

I did this only to find out that the M4 cutouts on mine would not let the blunt nose of the carbine bullets chamber! BTHPs work no problem.

Maybe I'll hold off on that order a bit. I wonder how a flat nosed 130 gr 30-30 bullet would work. There seems to be plenty of those around.

The Speer 130 Gr Hot Core bullet has fed just fine in my 300 BLK. As far as accuracy, my barrel doesn't like them, but yours might.

And of course the poly tipped bullets feed great.

I have a 8inch barrel 1:7 in 300BLK with a pistol length gas system.

I picked up some 190gn SMK from RMR bullets and use around 12gn (please develop your own load) of H4198.

I was looking for a subsonic load for suppressor use and got an average of 1050fps. This has proven to be extremely accurate considering what it is. I am getting at least moa or better at 100 yards.

Plenty of gas to operate bolt properly with out beating the brass up. I plan on working up some super-sonic loads but have not yet.

Hopefully this will help you get through the powder shortage as it seems like H4198 is easy to find these days.

Good luck!

I load Hornady 110gr Vmax and 150gr FMJBT with H110 or 296. Will also load the 125 SST I have coming with that powder. LilGun also works well.

Be wary of buying alot of the round nose bullets. Some people can get them to feed, some cannot. You could probably work your feed ramps slightly to improve feeding, but I will not, so no carbine bullets for me.

For the price, the 150gr FMJBTs are the best bet for plinking rounds in a 300 BO in my opinion.

I placed an order for 500 and asked for it to be split, half 309 and half 311. This way I could test to see what works best for me. Havent loaded them up yet but am going to try and do that this week. Hopefully I can get these to shoot, at $36/500 (free shipping too) thats the best deal out there

My 300 BLK barrel loves the 123 Gr .310 Z Max intended for 7.62X39. (Pictured above.)

You do have to make double sure the neck area of your chamber has enough clearance.

Those bullets you linked too look like a cheap alternative since pulled 147 Gr FMJ is so pricey these days.

The Lucky13 guys are also working on a 150ish grain bullet as well as one in the 220+ range for subs. Should be out in a few months and if their pricing is consistent they might be getting a ton of my business in the future

Same here, but they need to have enough of a point on them to get them to feed properly on every gun. If they just do another RN bullet, then they are shooting themselves in the foot so to speak :)
