    Semi-auto 7.62 recommendations?

As one who has served as an Army infantrymen I will tell you that the best weapon I was ever issued was a freaking radio to call in close air support and arty. :) Ultimately I believe we've heard from a number of people all offering good advice. I have always and will continue to love...

    M&P9 - anyone like?

I own an M&P .40 and M&Pc .40. I love them both. Both of mine were very early models and I did have some teething issues with both. I sent each one back to S&W and they fixed them no hassle whatsoever. Very quickly too. I'd trust either of these for self defense. I really want a 9L or...

Ever buy a gun to intend to sell later (P99 in mind)

I used to do that a lot..... but I live in CA and I learned a hard lesson back in the 90's. I buy as mush as I can and keep it. Looks like I'll have to start doing the same with ammo to some extent.

You can have only One Rifle, which one do you pick?

I'm always torn between my PTR-91 and my M1A. Neither is light, but I love them both. I've seen first hand how poorly the Mexican Army treats their HK G3s and those damn things just keep on running. It's a tough choice for me.

    Walther p99

I own a P99 in .40 S&W. Don't get me wrong, I love it. One of the most ergonomic handguns I own. You pick it up and you don't want to put it down. That having been said, it is the snappiest handgun I own. I own most of my handguns in .40 S&W and this is the only one that makes be very...

    .308 Battle Rifle/Carbine and why?

I know H2O man is just killing me with that pic. I too like the PTR-91 and I already own a M1A Standard. If I could just get the FAL I'd have everyone's top three. Is it me or does this topic pop up daily in one form or another?

what are your thoughts on a sig p6 225 ,226

I own 2 P226s and love em. IF I were going to rely on a 9mm, I'd just stick with my P228. To me, in 9mm, the P228 is the perfect 9mm. Capacity , accuracy, and balance, I don't think the P228 can be beat. I've owned Sigs along with other makes for going on 20 years and the Sig is the one...

Local Sheriff's office requires Glock or Sig, which?

I've tried to like Glocks, but it never takes. I do LOVE my Sigs. They are more expensive, but you get what you pay for. I've never heard of a department requiring you to purchase your own weapon. WOW!

Glock 19 vs SIG 229 vs HK USPc. what would you pick and why

The Sig hands down. Great firearm, more accurate than both the Glock and HK. Much better quality than the Glock, about the same quality as the HK. HK customer service blows. Go Sig.

    most reliable 308 battle rifle

So far I already own a M-1A and a PTR91 and I love them both. God knows the M1A has put up with some neglect and abuse. I do not own an FAL but I want one more and more every time this subject comes up... which seems to be daily lately. I think it's like anything else. You need to try...

    PTR blues....

I've got to say this is disconcerting. I own a PTR an only have surplus ammo. I have yet to shoot this rifle. I see this as a utility rifle and I bought it based on it's reliability. If it can't feed most decent surplus ammo, it's not worth having in my opinion. This is not a match grade...

Springfield M1A standard vs Socom 16

If you are only going out 100 to 200 yds the Socom is great. My buddy has one and it's a great weapon. I own the Standard and love it. You already have an AR so I'd go with the standard so you can go close in and engage at distance.

Recommend me a great battle .308 rifle!!

Since your heart seems set on a battle rifle I'd say you need to stick to the PTR-91 or FN FAL type rifle. I think either one of these would do it for you. You need to decide which pluses and minuses of these two are most important to you. I'd own a PTR, but I'd love to own both.

Advice needed - gun crazed boys

I agree. You and your husband should shoot with them. You might also look for a Jr Program. for IDPA or USPSA to get them involved in competition type shooting. It's a bit more structured and they would have a lot fo good mentoring.

    Reccomend 9mm ammo

Pick up a case (500 or 1000 rounds) of Win white box or Amrican Eagle for practice and buy about 4 or 5 boxes minimum of Speer Gold Dot Hollow points. I'd put about 2 or three boxes of the Speer through to make sure it functions well in your handgun and retain the rest for defense purposes...
