buy a used one, usually you can find them signifigantly (sp?) cheaper than new ones. you should be able to buy replacement parts with a used one and still come uner the cost of a new one.
it's not the part you can really see or feel that makes a colt a colt, it's the quality of the materials that meet the tdp set by the govn't for a soldier to carry in the field. had he had a rifle that didn't meet or exceed the tdp it could ended up a whole lot worse.

stay away from DPMS, CMMG some are good, some are lemons, if you do get one have the chamber inspected by a gunsmith unless plan only on shooting .223 and not 5.56x45
yep, I should of bought what I wanted, when I wanted it, last year. case in point.

get a saiga in 7.62x39 or .308, you'll have the firepower for your need, and the ability to convert it at your own pace and income, buy some mags and ammo before the conversion
