    Shoot or don’t shoot?

I might shoot it, but I doubt I'd carry it - wouldn't want to give it to the cops if I actually ended up using it. How about a small outlay for a RIA 206 if you want to carry a little six shooter?

    S&W Single Action Issue

OK. I'll buy that just based on the apparent effect of tightening the screw even slightly. But, as far as I can see, single action function does not become perfect until the screw is tightened down.

    S&W Single Action Issue

Thanks Goose. This turned out to be the case. When I took a turn on the set screw that was revealed on the front of the grip frame when I removed the grips, normal single action function was restored. It was a new gun, but it did work in single action mode at least initially. I had been doing a...

    S&W Single Action Issue

Nope wagonburner, haven't touched it. It just stopped working.

    S&W Single Action Issue

I have a fairly new N frame S&W revolver that has developed a little tic. It has a beautiful double action trigger – a real delight. But it has somehow lost its ability to shoot single action. It is difficult up to the point of impossibility to thumb back the hammer and have it 'catch' at the...

    Let's Talk .380

Another couple of votes for: LCP Hornady Critical Defense Those and a pocket holster converted me from an occasional carry person to an inveterate carry person.

Repealing the Second Amendment – is it even possible?

Of course it is legally possible. 2/3's of each house of congress and 3/4's of the states ratify. That means you need 38 states to ratify. Good luck with that. But, I will say this. At least a call for repeal is intellectually honest compared to the tired old garbage about it being a...

A Nickle finished 6" Colt Diamondback in 22LR. I want one, but not enough to shell out the cash.

Now that I'm retired, everywhere it is legal.

    Bedside Guns and anxiety

I think it is normal, once you get used to it. I first bought a firearm in my mid-20's. It took me a while to get used to keeping it handy and loaded. Maybe a few months. Now it's 40 years later. Having a firearm is like having a bolt on the door, a seatbelt, or a fire extinguisher in the kitchen.

    Were you ever anti-gun?

No, I was never anti-gun, but I was not pro-gun either. It was not on my radar screen. My father was a business exec and a born and bred city boy. My grandfather was a skilled worker in the clothing trades. They never had the time, the need, or the money to worry with things like guns...

    Protection from Animals

Lots of threads discuss caliber for Bears both black and brown. And they include recommendations for bear spray as well as revolver based medicine. In view of recent grim events, what is an effective caliber for a 7' gator? Do you have to go mag, or would a stout 44 spl. do the job...

Historical: Dr. Watson & his Bull pup

Is anyone familiar with British service revolvers of the late 19th century? I ran into this and have not found anything definitive poking around the internet. In the very first Sherlock Holmes story, "A Study in Scarlet" Watson tells Holmes that he keeps a "Bull pup". Nobody seems 100%...

Previous fence sitters ask you about getting a means of defense after Paris attack?

"Are the masses waking up..." Probably to a degree. It tends to happen when things are looking grim. Remember the story about Charlton Heston getting calls from his anti-gun friends when the Rodney King riots broke out.

Difference between fluted and unfluted cylinders

I don't claim to know an answer to the strength question. However, I observe that Ruger does not sell new model Blackhawks in 44 Mag - except for the Bisley hunter which has an unfluted cylinder. Other than that, if you want a 44 Mag in a single action it looks like you have to get the...

What is the Most Important Amendnent in the Bill of Rghts. The 1st or the 2nd?

Both. Neither one can stand without support from the other. We won't have the second long if we can't speak. Circumspection about an armed citizenry tends to make the first more secure.

Is there a correlation between 2A and military marksmanship?

I'll say no. Not of personal knowledge, but based on Lt. Col. John George in his book "Shots Fired in Anger" about his WWII experiences. The truth is that there is probably a higher correlation with numbers of rural boys who hunted than with the second amendment per se.

    Shotgun Ammo Type Pricing Question

I am not a big shotgunner, just have a basic 12 ga pump like all God's chillun should have. I was looking at ammunition prices with the idea of finding reduced/low recoil loads easier for my kids. I noticed that low recoil buckshot and slugs tend to be much more expensive than birdshot. I...

Private Property, CCW, and Civil Liability

Looking over some threads here it seems that there is as yet no case law related to a business being successfully sued for prohibiting concealed carry. (Please jump in and correct me if I am wrong there.) What about the reverse of that situation? Has a business ever been sued...

    Missouri Bullets .357 Action

drz: I'm a little confused by your post. As far as I can see (from the website) the "Zinger" is by definition 140 gr. "Action" is the 158 gr. "Striker" and "Pugnose" are 180 gr. Assuming I read that right, which are you using?
