    6.8spc Rifle Options

I've only got about 1200rds of 6.8 downrange and 9 hog kills under my belt so far, but so far I'm pretty impressed with this round. As to bullet weight and velocity you can easily get an honest 2800fps+ with 85/90gr,2500-2600fps with 110gr and 2300-2350fps with 130gr out of a standard DPMS...

    Browning X-Bolt .308

It's the 20" Micro and my dealer cost was $660., so I'd guess "street" price would be around $750.

    Browning X-Bolt .308

Just got my wife a X-Bolt .308 for deer season. Mounted a Bushnell 3200 Elite 4-12x40 DOA on it. Went out to work up a good load for it and zero it today. First load with a 165gr Sierra SBT over 42.5gr R-15, F210 went 3/4" and I thought cool this thing may shoot. Next group was a 165gr...

Best all around .30-06 on the market?

No question a Ruger M77 Hawkeye, preferably the stainless with brown laminate stock. Tough, accurate, great feel and handling, positive safety and comes with quality scope rings.

Ditton on this. Especially .308 and .30-06 165gr

    low light scope test

My wife (also a serious hunter) and I did another low light comparison of several scopes last night. Conditions were perfect to check them out in actual hunting conditions. It was dark with no lighting changes. We were viewing a corn feeder (141yds which is about the maximum I would ever shoot...

    Win M70 vs CZ550 vs Kimber 8400

Personally I wouldn't touch a Cooper after the owner being a big contributor to the Obama campaign.

    Win M70 vs CZ550 vs Kimber 8400

I've done a little more than "looked at" Ruger Hawkeyes, I own several and shoot/hunt with them often. I stand by my previous comment, the fit and finish is superior to CZ 550s and they definately feel and handle better.

    Best place for Tikka magazines?

Just checked Sports South, they have both 3 and 4rd .223 in stock, any dealer than buys from SS should be able to get them. They also have .22-250 and .243/.308 std capacity in stock. We've bought quite a few from SS and they normally have them in stock.

    Win M70 vs CZ550 vs Kimber 8400

JimmAr Have you checked out the new production Hawkeyes? They are a big improvement over the original m77s and MK IIs. Overall fit and finish is better than the CZ and there is no comparison to the feel and handling qualities.

The best scopes in the world?

I just bought a Keiss Victory 2.5-10x50 Illuminated #40 and I can tell you this is a VERY nice scope for low-light hunting. This is my first "high end" $1000. + scope and overall I'm happy with it. Whether it's worth the difference between a Bushnell 4200 Elite 2.5-10x50 illum I don't know since...

    Win M70 vs CZ550 vs Kimber 8400

I have a new (FN) Win m70 in .30-06 and I have tried everything and can't get a group under 1.5" on a good day, it's basically a 2" gun. It's going to a gun show........... My CZ 550 is in 9.3x62 and I love it, good fit and finish and shoots really good. It's fairly heavy and has somewhat of...

Good humidity level for gun safe?

In a dry climate you won't need to use a dehumidifyer rod. Your problem will be having enough humidity.

Help with advice on a hunting rifle cartridge

My Ruger m77 Hawkeye stainless with brown laminated stock in .30-06 will handle 99% of my N American hunting needs. You can buy .30-06 ammo virtually anywhere ammo is sold and can usually be found reasonably priced. There is a tremendous selection of ammo available for it for everything from...

Interesting: New Elite 6500 scope with the 6x adjustment

Just wish they would offer the 6500 with something besides the fine reticle, they are no good for low light shooting.

    Light weight hunting rifles

I really like my Tikka T3 Lite .30-06, even though I have a fairly heavy Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40 mounted it's still pretty light. Shoots great with just about anything I put in it.

    GREAT Factory Sniper Rifle

I have had no luck getting Savages to shoot................two bargan rifles that do really shoot well are the Tikka T3 Varmint (just cut the bbl to the desired length and you have a tactical bolt rifle) and the Rem 700 SPS Tactical. Both are a lot of gun for the money.

Boar Hunting, Best caliber to use ? ? ?

Wayne At the risk of offending someone I just have to put my 2 cents worth in...... A lot of the relies appear to be from people with minimal hog hunting experience so keep that in mind. I hunt hogs over 150 days out of the year, shoot over 100 annually and am in on the kill of a lot more...
