My buddy just sent me a pic of a new in box, never fired in its original box with papers Colt Huntsman in the Maine classifieds site around where he lives for $900. If I was close by I might be tempted to grab it.

I had a chance to rectify my stupid decision to trade off my Woodsman, couple years back the owner of the general store pulled out a couple of his Woodsmans from his private stash and had them priced at $500/ea and they were mint. I wanted badly to buy one of them but I think I had a major repair bill or something, didn't work out. I miss it, that's for sure. I wish we still had a gun classifieds site for VT but when they killed private sales people stopped posting and lost interest IME......
Thank you for that clarification. Good to know. I didn't know they made the unshrouded rod version into the late 60's. When did the shrouded rod begin?

You do know it's very risky to travel through the time/space continuum and bring back anything that might change the course of history!

I suggest you return to wherever it was that you found that then new Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless and put it back before someone notices it missing!

Congrats on the most excellent find!

The color of yours looks just like my 1905 mfg 1903 posted on the first page. Heres a different pic.

The reason I bring this up is mine is in too good of shape for me to believe. Ive been told that it looks original but the one thing that keeps me from believing, is the Rampant Colt stamp is very very lightly struck. Like it wore down or was filled in by bluing. But the color of yours, being NIB, gives me hope.

Ive seen many, many VERY lightly struck prancing ponies on Colts over the years. That said, yours is gorgeous, refinish or no. :)

Just figured I'd throw this into the thread, my buddy in Maine was visiting a gun shop and a guy brought his 1903 in for cleaning, it sounded odd to me but I remember the first time taking the 1903 apart and getting it back together was no picnic. No manual, no internet so it was in pieces for quite a while before I got the ambition to get it back together.... So I would assume he brings it in for maintenance because he doesn't want to go through the bother himself...

Anyway, you'll notice it's triple stamped. I'm sure a collector would go nuts for it. Also interesting is the Cobra with the Logo in a different spot, interesting. IMG_20220117_000111.jpg
