$10,000 Allowance

S&W 586
S&W Terrier in .38 S&W
S&W K-22 & K-38
Fifth Model S&W Safety Hammerless in .38 S&W
S&W Hand Ejector in .32-20

Presumably I can spend the balance on ammunition. God knows what factory .32-20 goes for.

they had a 2nd Change Hand Eject in 70% bight blue finish left. $800 .32-20 too… Didn’t know what it was until now

You should look into the .32 H & R/.327 family of cartridges, I have several of each and are my favorites right behind .41 magnums.

Second the 32 H&R fandom. I have a Ruger Single Six Bisley 7.5” that is one of the sweetest shooting and most accurate revolvers in my collection. Great cartridge, esp if you hand load. And easy on my lead pot as well - at 75 to 110 grains per boolit you get a lot more mileage than with 44's or 45's for plinking.

S&W Mod 12 with a standard 3" barrel, it came in 38spec
S&W Mod 58, it came in 41 Mag and have it round gripped, barrel cut to 3" with a gold bead front sight.
Colt SAA in 45 Colt 5 1/2" barrel, 1860 Brass grip frame with one piece rosewood grips.

Korth and a cheese burger?
Lol
Well... It's an impossible question. But if I was going to drop 10k on revolvers right now I figure if buy a super blackhawk with a bisley grip in 454 casull, a freedom arms m83 in 454 , a brf in 454 and a manurhin m88 if I had enough left.

Otherwise I guess I'd get a couple nice rugers and let Bowen do his best to soak up all the $$ .

I'd be happy with any of those

Smith 29,
Couple of Rugers in whatever calibers I happen to see
A decent Sharps rifle to go with my Rolling block and trapdoor.
Spend the rest on a trip to Italy.

I would get a 3 inch model 625, a 5 inch model 27, 2 inch model 15, 3 inch model 13, 2.5 inch model 19, a 3 inch model 10 or 64, and a 2 inch model 34. If there is enough left I would add a 640 pro

Anyone that modifies an original Model 58 should reexamine their lives in general.
Either shorten and round butt a shooter grade 58 or take a 581 and bore it to 41 and have a 5 shot cylinder made in 41mag.
Something that should have been built from the factory when they were building barrel length and frame of the month way back in the 70s and 80s

My Wife doesn't "Give " me money. She has her own checking and savings and I have mine. She has bought me a number of gun's as presents, but if I spent $10,000.00 on a gun she wouldn't bat an eye. My choice would be what I already have, a Colt SAA nickel finished 7 1/2 inched barrel .45 Colt and a Ruger New Model Vaquero also in ,45 Colt. IMG_3708.JPG

Smith did make a stainless 3" 41 magnum 657 with adjustable sights.

If the wife gave me 10 grand to buy guns? First thing I'd do is to take her to El Gaucho so she could drink a few smoked Old Fashioneds, eat the diver sea scallops, Chilean sea bass and filet mignon to her heart's content, take her home and try to make her remember the honeymoon, and then I'd complete the honey-do list for the whole next year in one weekend...

Then I'd be looking for:

- A mint 3" Model 13 (I'd settle for a 4") (mine's a loose beater, I want a tight and pretty one)

- A mint 29-2, 6.5" (yeah, I don't have the Dirty Harry gun, I'm slacking)

- A cherry 4" blued original Python

- Another 2.5" Model 66-2/3/4 to replace the one I stupidly traded away

- A 4" early Model 27 (never had one, now it's time)

- A clean Detective Special (second series), don't have one, need one

- A minty Model 17, 4" - Lord knows, they're hard to find

- A cherry 4" Manurhin MR73. some say the best .357 ever produced, certainly one of the prettiest

- The "Bloodwork Gun" - 'nuff said - the no-lock fluted-cylinder 627 8-shot snub, the other Smith that Clint made famous

- 2nd Generation Colt SAA in mint condition (no explanation necessary if you're a boomer)

These would probably well exceed 10 grand, so I'd have to dip into the super-secret Swiss bank account for gun purchases (you all know what I'm talking about).

Assuming starting from scratch….

The target guns.
S&W K17-3 triple target. This would replace grandads.
S&W K17-3 triple target. This one would be scoped. 617 may do.

The carry guns.
S&W 649, 357mag. I have one, would want a second.
S&W 649, 357mag.
I would be tempted to try a 3 inch, 6 shooter, 357mag, but honestly, I like the little 649.

Then it gets tricky.
I would want a woods, general carry gun.
I would want to shoot a 329, 4inch, light weight 44mag. IF I can shoot it well…
If not, 629, 4 inch, 44mag. If I can shoot it well, it would be my
If not, I am back to my 629, 6.5 inch.

Then a dedicated hunter.
S&W460, 7.5inch with rails, RD one, Scope a second one.

Then there is the old west...
Merwin in 44-40, never seen one for sale so…
Peacemaker set in 44-40, probably clone since I will shoot them.
Peacemaker set in 45C, probably clones since I will shoot them.

S&W mountain gun 45 colt
Ruger RedHawk 5” 45 colt with a 454 super RedHawk cylinder
Uberti 1851 conversion 38 special 5.5”
S&W 3” model 60 with adjustable sights
S&W 4” 617 22lr
S&W model 19 4”
S&W 5” 686 plus

That’s probably a little shy of $10k but that would do

S&Ws
  • 3" 686+
  • 4" 586 (preferably used, but I'd consider current production)
  • 4" 19 (used, probably P&R)
  • 4" 19 (current)
  • 4" 57 (used)
  • 4" 10

Non-S&W:
  • Colt Python (preferably a classic Python, but I'd go with current production if I had to in order to keep prices down).
  • Taurus Raging Bull in .44mag

If I couldn't quite do all that on $10K, I'd drop one of the Model 19s (probably the current version), though hopefully I could do it without dropping more than the P&R requirement for the used 19.

Note, the above assumes I can keep what I have. If the $10K is assuming you have to go from scratch, I'd sub the used M19 for my S&W 65LS, drop the M10 and Raging Bull to pick up a few small frames (definitely a 442 or 642, probably a Taurus 856 Defender, probably my S&W 317, and add my Colt King Cobra and a 2" steel J-frame or Taurus 85/856 if there is money left). I might drop the 686 to buy the 2.75" S&W 66 Combat Master I'm about to buy (probably today)

I'd go for a nice s&w 1917 or model 25, a bfr with a 5" octagon barrel and bisley grip frame in 50 jrh, a Dan Wesson pistol pack in both 357 and 44 mag, and a custom single six in 38 special with a 4" barrel, and probably a moon clip cut 9mm model 10 with a 5" heavy barrel. That would eat up ten grand pretty easy
