what dstorm says is smart. i'll share my own plan. the only basis for it is, "buy low sell high". yes, I know, but pays to remember.

first off, spend that money. you're 22. like someone else said making it back will be a piece of cake. here's what I would do if I were you.

this is a list. you may have some already, but this is mine. since you live in a free state, you practically have a duty to buy guns at this time. ALL GUNS ARE USED. No need to buy new guns.

  1. 2x ar15 top shelf. your choice of accessories. $600 ea
  2. 2x ak47 top shelf rec. romanian kits $300 ea
  3. 2x FAL IMBEL receiver. Or, Entreprise built by Entreprise. $800 ea
  4. 2x benelli m1 s90 w/ pistol grip by far the best semi auto shotgun $600 ea
  5. 2x m1 carbine USGI $600 ea
  6. 2x yugo sks M59 preferred, m59/66 okay but only if in exclnt. and cheap $250 ea
  7. 2x hi-point 9mm carbine $200 ea
  8. 2x AR15 receivers only $125 ea
  9. 2x AK receivers only $80 ea
  10. 2x m1 carbine receivers only $60 ea
  11. 2x SIG P229R or P228 $500 ea
  12. 1x M1A Loaded $1200 ea
  13. $600 worth of standard capacity magazines

total: $10,030

the list as is will guarantee that you will never have to say, "I wish I bought..." during the next 20 years.

If you want to not only amass guns but make an investment, toss the M1A (which is unlikely to be banned) and instead spend it all on AR15 stripped receivers and AK stripped receivers in 3-1 ratio.

I would invest offshore interest rates are substantially better out of the US.

Higher interest rates paid usually are higher risk.

I'd give some thought to what you're buying as others have said. I wouldn't blow the entire sum on guns.

You make a good point Danus. By no means am I just buying to spite anyone. Next time I should more carefully watch my words. Dstorm I would really like to visit your establishment one day if you open it to the public.

P.S. I already have reloading equipment.

Texasred.

I am a huge fan of the M1A, but were I you I might buy the FAL. It's a fun and reliable guns and magazines are cheap. It's also much more likely to be banned. The M1A will outshoot an FAL, but to really make it shoot well, you need to spend money. After you add the match trigger, untized gas system, scope mount, rings etc. you can easily double the price.

Here's my fal:

And here's my M1A

The FAL is fun, but the M1A will hit the 10 inch gong at 800 yards pretty consistently

you need an ar, a fal, and a AK. all of these have very common parts, mags, and bullets. get a highly reliable ar though, wait for one that is 100 percent reliable, that is a piston drive. Sounds like bushmaster, and Partriot arms , are close.

Invest Half. That money will grow faster than guns will appreciate in value, especially a new gun.
CD is probably the easiest to retreive if funds are badly needed in an emergency.
Don't spend it all in one place ain't bad advise.

Buy LOTS of ammo, prices are going up (considerably) in September, see http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=292878
Invest in storage containers for the large amount of ammo you are going to buy.

GUN SAFE???????

Trade that Charter on a Smith, too.

An AK or AR wouldn't be bad, again, lots of ammo for it.

About $3000 in ammo, a safe, maybe a new toy or two.
