Here is what I have so far can't remember what the order was:

1. USGI M1 Carbine
2. Springfield M1A walnut "loaded"
3. Stag AR-15 16" collapsible, .223, flat top
4. Stag lower collapsible w/ RRA 16" with handle non M4 bbl (thicker, but can't remember name)
5. IMI Uzi 9mm
6. Remington 700 Sendero Bull BBL .25-06
7. Remington 700 Sendero Bull BBL 7mm Rem Mag

So what am I missing? I am trying for versatility and historical signifigance yet I haven't so many historical guns because I am so worried about not being able to buy a damn high capacity in the next year or two.

I'm going to the show tomorrow afternoon and would really appreciate your insight asap.

I've already had the following and list reasons for no longer owning:

1. Mini 14 Ranch Rifle; sold, no mags $50, sight fell off, very inaccurate
2. Saiga 308; sold, no mags $50, bad sights, not accurate enough, tore up brass, bad trigger in stock formation, bad ergonomics w/ dragunov style stock, jammed 3 times within 150rds.
3. Ruger 10/22; gave to my lil sister, plan to get another soon
4. Norinco SKS; gave to my girlfriend, plan to get another soon and a yugo as well for good measure

So here we have it. I don't know what I want to get, thinking a new M1 carbine since this was my dad's and I don't want to shoot this one to hell. An Ak, maybe a Yugo M70. An AR in 9mm. Eventually a SOCOM 16 as well to compliment my M1A.

If you have the money for it:
H&K Imported Benelli M1 S90 with 8rnd mag, pistol grip, ghost ring sights.
Barett A1 .50 Caliber Semi-Auto
Yugoslavian M70 Designated Marksman Rifle
FAL Imbel or Austrian, 20" Barrel with Brake/Flash/Grenade Launcher
1919 A1

If you are short on funds:
Yugoslavian M59 SKS (not the M59/66)
Romanian AK or Saiga Conversion
Benelli M1 Super 90 Rifle Sights, 5rnd, standard stock
A Pair of Sabre Defence Lowers AR15

These recommendations are based on your fears for another gun grab.

What I would suggest you buy, since I think your risk is much lower than mine due to the state you live in:
Finn M39, finn-matched
Swiss K31 in Walnut
Russian M38 in excellent, not counter bored

and on pistols:
TT33 Romanian C&R!
CZ82 C&R!
Walther P1
FEG PA63
Nagant Revolver C&R!
CZ52 C&R!
SIG P6

Mosin(M44, M38, M91/30), Mauser K98, Swiss K31, 1903 Springfield, Garand, Lee Enfield N0 4, Yugo SKS, AKM, PSL-54C, FAL...etc You've got a lot of holes in your collection and a few grand should even things out a bit. Good luck!

"...what am I missing?..." A .22 LR.
"...and historical significance..." Other than the M1 Carbine, you have nothing of historical significance.
Like davepool says, get an M1 rifle. Go to the CMP for it. Jump the hoops(shoot the matches even if you don't have to) and buy one. There is no rifle that is quite like an M1. I've fired all kinds of different battle and commercial hunting rifles and not one comes close to an M1. Don't ask me why or what it is though. There's just something about them.

Some guns I enjoy (that are not on your list); PTR-91 308, LWRC 5.56, and POF 5.56. Oh, and M1A scout.

a 12 gauge shotty, and several 22's. you need a bolt a semi auto, at least, maybe a pump or lever, and you need a revolver , with 22/22mag interchangeable cylinders, and you need one long bbl(5 inches or more) semi auto 22lr , such as a ruger 22/45 or mk II or III.
Oh and you need some kind of 30.30 lever, winny or marlin.
Also a 100 dollar Mosin, I like the 38 myself.

Hmmm,,,,,

How come I never saw:
"bolt action, single shot .50BMG" in this discusion?

Sure,
Hunting is hunting, we've all done that, so let's move along..

And,,,,,,,,,,,,
Paper punching is a sport unto itself----
Hopefully, we all have a favorite rifle--- and maybe even handgun for that.

So,
Let's convince the brother which toy he somehow cant' live without.....

Since I sold off my tricked out Serbu BFG--
I want to put in my vote for a 36" Bull Barreled, 49 pound,
State Arms, 'Big Bertha'---built to your specs..... by Larry himself;
Like I have now.

Its fun to shoot...
Plus, Its even more fun to watch others shoot it- especially your teenage neices & nephews.

.

I have a hard time not finding new things that I want. Get a varmint AR or a .50 BMG if you got the dough. Hell if you get the 50 I'm sure the remaining funds will be consumed trying to feed it. Don't forget high priced glass to get you out there.

I've been thinking about a 45-70 lever gun with short barrel lately, get one of those.

Where are the revolvers? Get a S&W 629 or maybe a nice 628. Theres always colt pythons if you want to burn some dough up real quick.

Do you enjoy shooting what you have? If so you might look into getting a reloading setup or stocking up. Ammo prices increase at the beginning of the year.

You could get a AK-74 and then get a bunch of that cheap 5.45x39.

If I had a bunch of extra money I would setup a nice .300 win mag or maybe .260(maybe .338 Lapua) Accuracy International rifle for super long range. Lord knows I've been drooling over Zak Smith's rifles for years.

Really though possibilities are endless, just use your imagination.

Mosins. They're cheap but quality, and represent some great history. They're extremely fun to shoot and extremely cheap to shoot. Hell, buy two. Haters be darned, they really are fun and become quite an addiction.

Do you have a good safe? I lost my collection recently to theft, because I was too busy tuning it, instead of protecting it. I'll start over again, this time a GOOD safe if the number 1 purchase.

Garand for sure... especially if you already have the Carbine and M1A.

A nice (HI CAP) addition after the essential Garand ($495) would be:
--------
AR-180B ($750-800)
SIG 556 ($1100-1200)

I didnt see a pump shotgun mentioned in either thread. You need to have at least one. The 870 and 500 or 590 would do nicely, just get whichever fits best.

Well, I'm assuming that when you read this, you'll be back from the gun show. I hope you came home with a nice Garand. If not, check out the CMP. They're the best deal going for Garands these days.

No collection is complete without a Garand.
