I've literally searched online for hours looking for an answer but can't find anything about a similar problem.

I'm having an issue with my 10/22 where the trigger will not reset after firing. What happens is I can fire a round and it will cycle and load the next round into the chamber from the magazine just fine, but the trigger is not 'reset' and I can't fire again (It is loose without any resistance as if it had been dry fired). At this point I can pull the bolt about halfway back (without cycling a new round) and release the bolt handle, and the trigger will again have resistance/be reset and will fire/cycle a new round again, and the problem is repeated.

The rifle has had a few thousand rounds through it and has been pretty reliable but this problem has been going on for a few months now without going away; I basically just have a bolt action rifle now. I have taken it apart and cleaned it. Anyone know what the problem is?

It might be short cycling the action so it doesnt reset the hammer fully after each round.....
If thats not it I would check the trigger return spring as said above

Thanks for the replies.

I looked into the trigger spring and plunger, but I'm by no means an expert on these, and there wasn't anything that stuck out or seemed abnormal. I tried the rifle again after putting it back together hoping for a miracle but no such luck...

Excuse me for chuckling, but you've posted "online." Why not try the real world, where things get fixed?
