Now that the AWB is gone there seems to be a plentiful crop of 25 round 10/22 mags. How reliable are they? Which do you prefer - Butler Creek, Ramline, other? I never cared to pay $70 bucks for a pre-ban, but now that they are $20 or so, I've been thinking about picking up a few.

I bought three of the B/C HotLips for my 10/22 (22LR) as soon as they were available. With virtually every brand of ammo I've tried (PMC 40gr solids, Federal 40gr copper-washed hollowpoints, and various Win fodder) they'll cause multiple misfeeds per mag. My stock Ruger 10rd mags work fine with this ammo/rifle combo - guess what I use?

I have two Ram-Lines that are pre-ban. They're a real PITA to load, but they function perfectly.
I have a few pre ban 25 round Ram Lines that run perfectly but as cheygriz says, they are thumb busters. I also have one pre ban 30 round Ram Line 10/22 mag. This is my favorite. It runs great and doesn't stick out of the mag well as far as the 25 rounders. I don't know if they are making these again but if they are I'd like to get a few more.

FYI: I found some 50rd 10/22 mags at Gander Mountain the other night. I can't remember if they were Butler Creek or Ram-Line though, I thought they were priced decently too.

I've never had any problems with the Butler Creeks I have. I have had some problems with the Ramlines in the past. (Work OK for the first few magfuls then the misfeeds start.)
BC never made 50 rounders.
If you want to relieve yourself from a sore thumb, get one of the mag loaders. The one I use is a BC which has worked fine. I think Ramline makes one too.

I have a ram line loader and a b/c loader. the b/c loader is hands down better than the ram line. b/c is smaller, less parts and easier to fill the loader up than the ram line. also I can fill the mags up faster with b/c than the ramline. on a side note I have not had a ft feed when using a bc loader and bc mag combo ( that may just be luck also). I plan on getting a few steel lips as soon as the price gets in line better although I did see some on cdnn for less than $30 each.
I saw some B/C 25rd mags at Academy for $20. I guess I'll have to get one and see how it works. I've got some of their 10rd mags (hot lips). They seem kind of cheap, one of them is even cracked around the top, but I have put a few thousand rounds through them with no feed problems.
I'd stay with the stock Ruger's. I do a lot of gopher hunting here in Montana, where it's perfectly possible to run through a brick in a day. The stock mags are much easier to carry as spares in the pockets & reload much quicker too. And besides, I've never had to worry about the reliability of them.
