10/22, ruger .44 carbine stock?

I had a 10/22 and my .44 carbine out the other day, and was comparing the stocks on them. The stock is wider on the .44, and obviously the barrel inlet(?) is wider as well, but other than that, they looked exactly the same. My .44 is actually fairly rough, but I thought it'd be cool to someday put a different stock on it possibly, and no one seems to sell stocks for these. So my question is, would an aftermarket 10/22 stock fit this gun with some sanding around the barrel?

Have no idea (or a .44 to compare to) but give it a try (with said existing 10/22 stock just to compare). It should be apparent pretty quickly if it is in the same neighborhood. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, Mav.

You'd have to do a mod on the mag well.
