10/22 'smiths-how hard to install an extended mag release?

Pathetically easy, takes less than 5 minutes including assembly and disassembly.

It might be hard if you are blind and have lost all your fingers in a tragic juicer-related accident.
Just involves pushing out one pin and replacing the piece IIRC. There are exploded diagrams all over the intrawebs if you get lost.

wow had known they were that inexpensive I would have done it years ago. I am going to do it also. Good post AJM.

Magazine release. I figured since my post was about an extended magazine release to replace the stock magazine release the subject of that sentence was pretty obvious.

:p

If you haven't gotten the picture yet, it's simple.

A Ruger 10/22 needs 3 things coming out of the box: Tech Sights (if you're not putting a scope on it), VQ hammer & bolt release package and an extended mag release. Takes it from a good gun to a great gun for about $100.

15 minutes not including dinner in the middle of it. Got here today already and am totally happy with it.

did you guys find that the new ruger extended mag release was a little loose once installed? or maybe it is not getting spring tension, though it holds and releases the mag really well.

Oh, if anyone does this get an extended bolt catch too. I wish I had because mine's still as hard to use as ever.

I really like the Power Custom bolt release. It's longer than stock and serrated, much easier to manipulate.

I always get the cheapo plastic mag release that Midway sells. It's easy to trim down to a size and shape that's easy to work but not in the way.
