I'm looking at get a 10/22. I was looking at them the other day and discovered they come in both a rifle or a carbine. My Question is will all the neat stuff (stocks & mags.) fit the rifle? I would think so but thought I would check.I have only seen the carbine mentioned in the adds.THANKS

The carbine is the one to buy (it's the ceapest of the 10/22 versions) if you are going to be modding it down the road. With my 10/22 Carbine, the only things left from the factory is the receiver, bolt, trigger housing and trigger guard. Everything else is either aftermarket or stock pieces I have modified.

I just researched this a few weeks ago

The rifle has a longer barrel, 20 inches, and some kind of high visibility sights. The carbine comes with plain iron sights. I could not find a rifle in my area and ended up finded a TC Classic on sale for a good price.

I picked up a 10/22 rifle a couple months back. It does have the longer barrel, adjustable fiber optic sights and also a more rifle-like stock with no barrel band and a flat butt. I couldn't be happier with my first .22. If I was going to modify or do major upgrades, I'd just get the basic carbine. Mine will have very subtle upgrades while still appearing stock.

Why not upgrade the rifle? I'm thinking folding stock to better fit in a pack.I still want it as accurate as I can get. Is there that much differance in accuracy? I would think so but can't say for shure, what do ya think. I'm not worried about the extra money.

The accuracy difference between the carbine and rifle barrel should be minimal. Heck, there's probably more variance in accuracy from one barrel to another than you'd see with these two. When I think of mods on a 10/22, I see everything but the bolt and reciever being replaced or upgraded. Why pay extra for the sights and stock when they'll be in a box next month. If you're after a stowable pack rifle, the shorter barrel is a plus anyway.

Another option is the compact rifle. It has a shorter barrel and LOP but keeps the FO sights and stock design. The FO sights ARE worth the money, IMO.
