Looks just like a Win63!

My great uncle had a 63 that I learned to shoot with. Been looking for a nice example for years, but man, are they expensive! When Taurus started making a 63 clone, I had to pick one up. It's a decent shooter, and a pretty true replica, but it's sure not a Winchester!

Did Winchester ever make an auto-loader carbine of a similar design in a currently popular center-fire caliber? Something just like that in .38spl would be just the ticket.

Nice find!

One more question: Are SLR's lefty friendly, or am I going to be eating hot brass?

The big brown truck stopped by today with 20 rounds of 170 grain FMJ from Old Western Scrounger! The 60 rounds of SP from Buffalo Arms are on backorder, but atleast I can take her out and see how she shoots:D!!!:D
Here's a comparison of a .35WSL and .30 carbine round...

Rubbed it down with some denatured alcohol, and then gave a few coats of linseed oil with copious rubbing with a soft cotton cloth.

Well hopefully I'll find out if she shoots as well as she looks tomorrow. Maybe I'll hit the range before I go to the safety academy for the practice PAT. Yes, I finally received the results of the written exam for police officer!

Well, went to the Bob&Rocco show today. I managed to find a rear sight elevator, and 50 vintage Remington 180grain SP's for the same price as 20 rounds from OWS. Also picked up a can of 4227 and some small rifle primers. So it wasn't a total disappointment.

Well, I went back to the show and picked up a Remington model 8 to keep the Winchester company! Now I have yet another obsolete round to load for... :banghead:

I know, the $200 price tag was too much to resist! He has another MINT model 8 for $325 as well... Nope...only need one... For now!;) Here's the beatiful part of the $200 model 8... It has a poorly fitted recoil pad, but here's the rub... They didn't cut the stock to fit it! They shaved a piece of brown rubber to fit the contour of the butt! So a new steel plate and she's good to go!

Well, I froze my butt off going to the range today. I almost wish I'd taken the snowshoes as it was drifted pretty high today! The Remington was by far the shining star, but the Winchester only needs the front site drifted. Of course I didn't have my brass punches with me though.:cuss: Well now it's time to enjoy an evening of loading some 180 grain softpoints for the Winchester. And maybe now I'll pay a little more attention... I had the flaring die in the press instead of the de-capper and fubar-ed one case...

Well, now it has happened. My tastes have changed. I'm dumping most of my collection and focusing on these obsolete autoloaders. Now I'm working a deal for a n 81 in either .300 Savage or .35 Remington for a 336 in .35... Yeah, I'm hooked!:D
