Since I don't have either of these case feeders I'm hoping someone can answer this question.

Is there any difference between the two? I see the 1050 uses a square pole vs. a round one for the 650/750? Is that difference reflected in the housing of the case hopper?

The plastic is molded 1 inch square, just so happens that will also drop over 1 inch round, if you need bends or holes in the post that are not 90deg from one another.

Unless you need to set it at a specific height, you don’t need the set screw on a square post, if you don’t use it on a round one it can rotate.

FWIW they have made at least 4 different versions, over the years.

Do these feeders have a clutch setup to safely stop things when something binds? I expect they do.

Yes, the motor has a cross pin in the shaft and the collator plate is sandwiched between the keyed boom part and a top plate, tension between the to, imparted to the plate is adjusted with two sockethead cap screws.

If you stall plate, you want the clutch to slip and the motor to keep turning. Stalling the motor will let the magic smoke out and won’t work anymore. :)

I see. Perhaps that's where TylerR got the idea for his new bullet/case feeder plates with clutches, he designed last week. Understand it works well, but I haven't updated anything to that yet. Probably will, eventually.

AR-Bossman: If I had a Dillon 650 like you, I'd probably just buy Dillon's proven casefeeder if you haven't already. Just doesn't fill my tinkering habit needs.;)

I have made some collators using split set collars on a smooth shaft as a clutch, other drives as well. Cheap, easy and works.

They are the same, the new ones are variable speed.
Karl Bibb on fakebook makes bullet and case feeders, Ive yet to hear anything bad about em.
