Dillon 650 vs 1050?

I've run both of those machines. I had 2 Dillon 650 machines setup for each sized primer to avoid the changeover. Ran those two machines and finally ran into a used 1050 setup with an extra toolhead, both priming systems and 3 conversion kits. I tried the 1050 out and really liked it. I ended up selling the 650 machines and keeping the 1050. I bought an extra toolhead and now have 3 total. I have it setup for 9mm, 38 Spl., and 45 ACP. The fact that the 1050 does everything on the downstroke of the handle is a big advantage as it speeds things up and you have a harder time not priming a case. Primer size changeovers is not that big a deal. I just load up in big lots at a time before swapping over.

Cost is a big factor with me and I was lucky to have bought all those machines used and cheap. I would have been fine staying with the 650 machines, but the 1050 is a lot smoother and faster and fell into my lap for cheap so I went ahead and kept it. Everything for the 1050 is more expensive. The toolheads are $189!!! If you find yourself loading a lot of different calibers that is something to consider.
