This one's been around. It's looks like the same old fake picture.

That hog turned out to be farmed raised and released. That is how the outfitter knew to invite the media the day that hog was killed even before it was killed. That thing even had a name like Steve or something.

Oh it was a big deal for a couple of weeks after it happened thats for sure. a lot of these hogzillas seem to get debunked. There are some legit big wild ones out there though that is for sure. BTW That kid and his dad did not know it was released they thought it was a wild hog. Also the 11yr old shooting a 500 that boy is on the verge of manhood even if he shot a farm raised hog, in my book.

This was some families pet pig.

It got too big, so they sold it.

It walked right up to the "hunters".

This story raised a big stink back when it came out.

The hog I can see, I'm just surprised it's legal for an 11 year old to hunt with a pistol.

They must have some unique licensing laws there.

You can hunt with whatever is legal as long as you have a licensed guardian present.

Don't pass judgment too quick. The local game warden had no issues declaring the hog feral. The previous owner sold the hog because it was dangerous and uncontrollable. The father and the boy neither knew the hog did not start out in the wild. The hog had been stalked, and no it did not just walk up to the hunters. Do ALL the homework before jumping on the rag. Any way you stack it up, the hog was feral at the time of the hunt, it was a great shoot by an 11 year old HUNTER. We should all be so lucky to have such a great boy as a son, and would have been so lucky to have a father willing to spend hours and hours stalking so that his son could have a great experience.

Count the blessings here, not the crap the journalists spew out.

This hog wasn't shot in the 'wild'. It was sold to a place that keeps the "wild animals" in a fence, so the 'hunters' don't have to chase 'em or find 'em.

Googling this event will bring up lots of information.

OMG!!!

"this pig wasn't shot in the wild, that boy should'nt be shooting that gun, it was fenced in, this doesn't count, that ain't real, they used photo shop, ..."

Take a FN man pill already.

Grizz, I got what your saying...

Yeah, don'tcha hate that? What really irks me are the folks that immediately run to Snopes to be the first to debunk a story. As well as the "Photoshop detectives". They're as bad as the folks that fake the stories, IMO. I like cool stories and photos, I don't necessarily care if they're real or not, usually don't even want to know.

That is Fred, and it is a real picture. A neighbor's pet that they had raised from a piglet. Pigs certainly do get that big too. Ask any of the pig farmers in my family. Lil' Jamison used the 500 S&W revolver to pound several holes in Fred over the coarse of a few hours, IIRC. This all happened a year or more ago. Bye Fred!!

This happened about an hour from me, lots of publicity here. The truly sad part of the story is that the 11 year old boy got some VERY bad hate mail from animal "rights" type folks - stuff like "I hope you die a suffering death like that pig." I think the boy's dad has done a remarkable job keeping his son as insulated as he could from that hate-filled stuff and keeping him enthused about hunting. You can get more details on the pig and their hunt at www.monsterpig.com.

Yeah I heard about all the PETA types giving the boy crap for it. IF anybody should recieve crap its the outfitter not the boy or the dad.

Heck yeah they are probably still eating breakfast sausage every morning and pork chops every night.

This happened about 20 miles from my home.
Here is the story. The hog was bought about a week before from a local farmer, it was then turned loose in a 20 acre field where the kid shot it with a 50 cal S&W. The idea was to sell: T shirts, meat, hats, etc. It did not work as the farmer who raised the hog exposed the scam.

Old News, but . . .

The target was apparently a "farm-raised" pig with no sense to vamoose. Wild creatures develop a sense of survival, but this little piggie had NONE! cliffy

That 11 year old boy would impress me more if he had used some dogs and killed that hog with a knife. Now, THAT'S hog hunting! :D

I don't care how tame a pig is. If it's got 3 or 4 dogs trying to get a hold of it, I bet it gets pretty wild. A half ton hog could sling some dogs a long way. :what:
