I was wondering if anyone has used this bullet. I had good results in a Springfield XDS and a Sig P938 with a COL of 1.100 - 1.115" with CCI 500 primers, I've used True Blue and BE-86 so far, velocity from the XDS was 1,027fps and 985 fps in the P938.

Maybe I'm just being a ninny? But I get annoyed when a bullet manufacturer offers a bullet with no load data.
Getting tired of burning up most of my order in load development.

You could order their 124gr bullets plenty of load data for that weight bullet

At the time I had a XDS with the 3.3" and used a 135gr Hornady load as a carry round, I was able to replicate that load with the Xtreme 135gr plated for practice. I sold the XDS and now have a Sig P938 legion with a 3" barrel. I prefer a subsonic load so the the 124gr is more of a opion now.

If it gets you annoyed then why do you do it? I certainly don't hand load to get aggravated!
I assume Xtreme has done their testing for this bullet, just wish they would share a little.

We have so much more load data available to us today vs 20/30/40 years ago. Not just more powders and a better selection of bullets, but a lot more more data, from more sources. New reloaders have it awfully well these days IMHO. (Except for pricing)

It wouldn’t surprise me if they have done or had somebody else do some velocity testing on some of their plated bullets to establish the max recommended MV, but I would be very surprised if they have done any load testing with various powders.

This is taken directly from Berry's site under the FAQ's it has been copied and pasted;

Please consult load data books or your powder manufacturers' website for load information. You can use any published data as long as it is the same weight (FMJ, Lead, Plated, etc.)

-Standard Plate Bullets max velocity- 1,250 fps.

-Thick Plate Bullets (TP) max velocity- 1,500 fps.

For SAAMI MAX COL specs or OAL of the bullet please click
HERE.

We recommend a light crimp on the bullet, just enough to put pressure against the bullet without denting or deforming the plating. If you were to pull the bullet out of a case with the proper crimp you would find no more than a scratch on the surface of the plating. If you are denting or deforming the bullet, your accuracy will suffer and the bullet may start to tumble before it hits the target.

Here are websites with load data information,

When you go to Xtreme's website you will find even less information on load data. They just do not have the resources to do extensive testing with all the different powders which is why they issue this generic recommendation. Which has also lead to many a heated debate over which load data to use, cast or jacketed, which of course plated is neither one!

^^That is what Berry's now has now on their website.

A while back they had the opinion to use cast lead data with plated bullets but I see that is gone now.

Sooo. What to say? What to do???

This is one time where I'm going to suggest something I never do and that is the budding handloader wishing to use plated bullets should purchase the latest edition of the LEE load manual since it lists quite a bit of plated bullet load data.

One reason I moved much of my powder choices to Western Powders (Accurate, Ramshot) for plated bullets as they have the most data for plated bullets that I have been able to find on the internet. They offer a lot of Berry's, Rainiers and Speer Gold Dot which should also cover much of what Xtreme and RMR offer.

I also believe that as plated becomes more mainstream due to environmental restrictions on cast lead published load data will also increase.

Maybe, maybe not but I personally have a long memory and it will be decades before I forget that during the GPS (Great Powder Scarcity) of 2012-2014 Western made basically no attempt to put anything in the pipeline. Certainly all of the powder suppliers gave we handloaders the back of the hand but at least Hodgdon, warts and all, tried very hard to keep us shooting.

But to the point of the thread as I see it I think some of the brethren want load data for the exact bullet they are using and that will never happen. There is a certain bit of creative brain power needed for this activity. Theory is boring, this is true, but some is necessary.

Since plated bullets have a soft lead core how do you figure that you would be sidestepping any possible environmental regulations? In the places where lead bullets have been banned it's a total ban on ANY bullet that contains led.

For one you will have to ask the people writing the rules, I don't own a range and I am not in the government. Since I have started shooting again and while searching for places to shoot I came across a couple ranges that would not allow cast lead, One was indoor and one was outdoor but at the same time there were a few that would not allow handloads either. Besides it has already started with hunting and shotgun loads and I had nothing to do with it.
