I'm loading up these for a 4.7" barrel CZ75 for competitive shooting. Anybody have any recommended loads that have worked out well? I'm leaning towards AA#7 6.5 ... 7.2 grains (from Lee book) which matches the AA published loads. Speer gives a range of 6.1 ... 6.9g AA#7 for TMJ and Gold Dots.

Although I don't shoot competition, I am a very seasoned handgunner. The most accurate rounds were with Longshot for those heavier 147's. I had previously tried HS-7 because it loads about the same as AA#7, and it was also chronographing at nearly identical velocities. But there is just something about Longshot that made it more accurate with 147's.

But on the flip side, Longshot won't do well with lighter bullets. When I'm loading the 124's and 115's AA#7 is the ticket.

I'm a big fan of Gold Dots and have been loading with them since Speer started offering them. I also like XTP's, however, they are noticably a very different animal. If I don't push XTP's with everything I can muster with, they won't perform very consistently. It may have something to do with the inconsistent weights, where as Gold Dots all seem to be very well made in this respect.

My 147gr LTC from Missouri ,in both Berettas and a Storm Lake barrel shoots them great with AA#5 and WSF. I can't remember the exact charges but both were some of my best 9mm loads. In FMJ I haven't used 147's.

I load 147gr jacketed w/ HS6. If you're looking for full power, that's a great combo. If your looking for a 125 to 130 pf load, you will probably do better with a faster powder.

I shoot 147g Berry RN plated bullets for IDPA by the thousands. My XDM 5.25 loves 3.5g TiteGroup. I believe TG has a very small window, 3.3-3.6 and I have tried them all, 3.5 just works the best, and easily makes PF (with plenty of room to spare)... Highly recommended.

Previously I used 3.4 gr. Titegroup but found it burned too hot and switched to 4.0 gr. WSF with a 147 gr. FMJ - both loads were at ca 900 fps. You should also check the Alliant and Hodgdon websites.

I like 4.5grs of Power Pistol with WSP and 1.169" OAL. It feels like a full power load, but it is very mild pressure wise. PP generates more recoil when compared to other similar powders. This load is extremely accurate, tack driving even.

I tried 5 grains of it under a 147XTP at 1.100" OAL but got unburnt powder in the gun. I know that all powders will leave fouling of this sort but AA leaves little balls that feel like sand and I don't like it. So does WST, btw.

I did not get the accuracy I was hoping for either.

Thats my same experience with PP. But for fast competitive shooting I want to keep the fireworks and muzzle rise down.

I use AA#5 in a bunch of 9mm loads and haven't ever had it leave granuals in the barrel,it actually burns fairly clean.Even in 45acp,a low pressure round it burns good.
