Would all the cynics please shut your pie-holes. This is for the good of 'Murica. This is for the good of the US transportation industry. No long will fat, lazy 'Murican truckers be able to gouge 'Murican bidness. 'Murica get stronger every time a truck crosses the border (sorry, I tried to stiffle it but failed).

Now back to reality. So if you think borders open to footed crossers is a threat, imagine what can be put in a trailer. My personal favorite is armed combat teams.

We know what the public reaction was to the ports fiasco. It will be interesting and instructive to see the reaction to open trucking. :scrutiny:

Bush may not have A Plan but Arlen Specter definitely does:

"Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said he understood Frist's parliamentary reasons for filing the bill. But he said he remains apprehensive of the "chaos" resulting from handling complicated immigration and border security issues on the Senate floor.

"My preference would have been to complete our markup (of the bill) in the committee," said Specter, R-Pa.

He was adamant the Senate would deal with allowing some illegal immigrants to stay under what critics say is an "amnesty" program and ensuring that U.S. employers have a source of low-wage labor from abroad.

"This bill is not going to leave the Senate floor without addressing those subjects," Specter said."

House passes a bill without amnesty.

Senate will pass a bill which will have amnesty in some form.

President wants amnesty now.

The public has a decreasingly short fuse for both illegal immigrants and congress.

Specter (R-Elite Party) is symptomatic of the problem. The issue of complicated in his mind. I doubt it is complicated in the minds of many taxpayers.

Elections are November this year.

I claim dibbs on the popcorn consession.

The goal of making both America and mexihole 2nd world nations are nearing completion.

It just sucks that the greatest country on earth is more concerned with cheap oranges, cheap yard work, and material possessions like new cars and homes they can't afford. A stable future for our families should be more important than a new car or cheap yard work.

To paraphrase a familiar person:

"Mexico gets stronger and America gets weaker every time a immigrant crosses the border, mode of transport is not important".

What it comes down to is that Congress, with the President cheering them on, is determined to pass a bill that will not only ignore the will of three-quarters of Americans but outright insult them. It is abundantly clear that whatever "solution" they come up with will not be in the best perceived interest of most American citizens and taxpayers. The blurring of legitimate citizenship is a profound step in American history, and we should all be aware of what is likely to be on the way.
