U.S. Border Patrol agents were backed down this week by armed men, dressed in what appeared to be Mexican military uniforms and carrying military weapons, who seized a captured dump truck filled with marijuana from the U.S. agents and dragged it across the border into Mexico with a bulldozer.

The border incident occurred Thursday evening when Border Patrol agents attempted to pull over a dump truck on Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County, Texas. The driver fled from the agents, exiting the freeway and driving toward the Rio Grande which runs within 2 miles of the interstate in this portion of West Texas.

The driver abandoned the truck after it became stuck in the river bed, escaping into Mexico.

Agents called for reinforcement from the Texas state troopers and Hudspeth County sheriff and began unloading the haul – estimated to have been nearly 3 tons – when everything changed.

Officers "started to retrieve the bundles when the armed subjects appeared," said Agent Ramiro Cordero, Border Patrol spokesman.

According to Hudspeth County Chief Deputy Mike Doyal, the dump truck driver returned with armed men, some of whom drove "official looking vehicles with overhead lights." Some of those armed, Doyal told the El Paso Times, appeared to be Mexican soldiers in uniform with military weapons.

"It's a very serious incident," Doyal said. "We are very fortunate ... no one got hurt. Everyone had the presence of mind not to cause an international incident, or start shooting."

As WorldNetDaily has reported, there are widespread reports of U.S.-trained Mexican commandos, called the Zetas, making cross-border runs into U.S. territory in military-style vehicles, armed with automatic weapons.

The Zetas were trained as elite commandos by U.S. forces to combat the drug cartels, but they have switched sides and are working for the drug smugglers in the border area posing a special hazard to American law enforcement and Border Patrol agents, according to a U.S. Justice Department memo. Under the control of reputed drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the Zetas are conducting a bloody war for control of the entire southern border in an effort to secure a monopoly on drug-smuggling and people-smuggling routes.

As both sides faced off, a bulldozer appeared from the Mexico side of the river and was used by the armed men to pull the dump truck – and the two-thirds of the marijuana that had not yet been unloaded – into Mexico. The bulldozer, Doyal said, is believed to be used regularly to make makeshift crossings over the Rio Grande.

The "armed encounter with drug smugglers," as Cordero described it, is under investigation. No confirmation was made as to whether or not the "soldiers" belonged to the Mexican military.

It is now time to put troops on the boarder

They were just poor workers trying to feed their families.

If these were Mexican soliders, on American soil, pointing guns at American Law Enforcement, that IS an international incident.

Pot-laden truck creates armed standoff

A marijuana-laden dump truck got stuck in the Rio Grande on Thursday evening in Hudspeth County, leading to a standoff between U.S. law enforcement and what appeared to be the Mexican military, sheriff officials said.

"It's a very serious incident," Hudspeth County Chief Deputy Mike Doyal said.

"We are very fortunate (Thursday) night no one got hurt," Doyal said. "Everyone had the presence of mind not to cause an international incident, or start shooting."

The incident began when Border Patrol agents tried to stop the dump truck on Interstate 10, sheriff's officials said. The truck fled to Mexico in the Neely's Crossing area.

The truck got stuck in the riverbed, and the driver took off running. Agents "started to retrieve the bundles (of marijuana) when the armed subjects appeared," said Agent Ramiro Cordero, a Border Patrol spokesman.

The Border Patrol called Hudspeth County sheriff's deputies and Texas state troopers for backup, both agencies confirmed.

Doyal said the truck driver returned with the armed men, including men who arrived in official-looking vehicles with overhead lights and what appeared to be Mexican soldiers in uniform and with military-style rifles.

The Mexican army is used in anti-narcotics operations. Army officials could not be reached for comment.

The standoff ended when the "soldiers" used a bulldozer to pull the dump truck into Mexico, sheriff's officials said.

Doyal said the bulldozer is kept in the area and is suspected of being used to create makeshift paths across the river.

"The 1,850 pounds confiscated (by U.S. authorities) was probably a third of what was in the truck. The rest went into the Mexican side," Doyal said.

Cordero, the Border Patrol spokesman, described the incident as an "armed encounter with drug smugglers" but would not confirm whether the Mexican military was involved. Investigations into the incident continue.

This shows the need to give the border patrol sophisticated military hardware!! I'm not going to go as far as to say we need the military patrolling our borders because that opens up more worms that most people realize!! But arm the BP with, say, M60s, SAWs, or maybe a couple of Puff the Majick Dragons, and watch those narco terrorists run!! A couple of Abrahms tanks wouldn't hurt as well!!

I'm telling you all we need to do is wag the dog on this. We release a press release that says we have decided to mine the entire boarder. Every couple of weeks or months create a false video/news report showing some poor schmuck or group of schmucks who got blown up. This way I bet we would curtail illegal crossing without much cost.

***! Obviously the mexicans protecting the shipment have a lot more balls (cojones) than those folks in charge of protecting our border. We're screwed.

One time there was some kind of a problem when Ron. Reagan was president. He simply closed the border so that no tourists entered Mexico at the height of the winter season. Given the massive loss of Yankee dollars they settled things quick! The trouble now is that we don’t have anybody in Washington that’s willing to play hardball – and no, military force isn’t necessary.

GOD! I want to comment on this so badly - but then this is The High Road and I don't wanna be banned...

No, we are decidedly unfortunate that someone doesn't have the balls to do what's needed on the boarder, regardless of the potential of offending Mr. Fox. I couldn't give a rat's rear if Mr. Fox is offended. We have about ten times more cause to declare war on Mexico than we had with Iraq, and we are scared of offending them.

The reason they are so scared of offending them, by the way, is that they plan a political merger with that nation in the near future, and hostilities would get in the way of that.

has a more credible source reported this yet? this story is dinamite if verifiable.
It is not dynamite, because the MSM decides what news is dynamite, and what isn't. Those in charge of the MSM do not want hostilities with Mexico, so the story will not be given much attention. They are our future fellow Americans, after all. The deals have already been made.

OK, if the Border Patrol can't do the job, then its time for the military. Hey, we're talking I-10. And that frickkin bulldozer needed to be destroyed... used to make paths along the Rio my butt. They're like tanks... Come on time to get a clue. They're getting bolder, ie testing us.:cuss: Whats next? Machine guns, morters? When are we going to respond?

I'm so sick of Mexico,if it were up to me,we would nuke the hell out of them!

im sick of them too but the land is too nice to nuke it. we should gas the people then turn the whole country into an american beach resort

Logic check please

From appearances, some Mexican authorities may be involved in exporting Marijuana into the U.S.

Marijuana is a drug.

Uncontrolled drug abuse can lead to massive distruption and destruction of people's lives.

Many many people in the U.S. abuse drugs, leading to mass destruction of their lives.

So Marijuana is a weapon of mass destruction, sourced to Mexico.

Hmmmm....

Sounds like grounds for military invasion and "Regime Change" to me. WMDs and all that.

they just come to traffick

Didn't Bush give Mexicans free passage for their trucks? I guess they're taking advantage of it.

We have a de facto state of war with Mexico, and everyone but His Presidency understands that.

I agree that the master plan includes "welcoming" Mexico as part of the United States of North America. The plan must not be interefered with by the plebeians. I read a new term the other day: Citizenism. Yeah, that's the prejudice that citizenship matters.

Northern Mexico is a narco-terrorist nation unto itself, another Columbia, and Al-Qaeda, it's reported, has found a home there. YET WE DO NOTHING.

One addition to this excellent quote. It is the SMSM. Socialist Mainstream Media. And you are correct.

Fortunately blogs and fora such as THR have been invaluable in establishing the bias in the SMSM. I have always said that I have more of a problem with what is NOT reported.

"It's a very serious incident," Doyal said. "We are very fortunate ... no one got hurt. Everyone had the presence of mind not to cause an international incident, or start shooting."
Semantics at work, I suppose.

Seems to be that, regardless of whether or not shots were fired, any time you have armed persons cross a national border and point guns at people in another country (regardless of whether or not they happen to be that country's border cops), you more or less by definition have an "international" incident.

Just another act of war against America for mexico... Nothing to see move along... Wonder why no "mainstream" media covers these incidents? I mean they surely know about them??? Makes me wonder, even if they are NOT 100% accurate in the way they were reported, it is a HOT story, but then again "they" can not cast a bad light on mexico. :banghead:

Maybe it was the mexican military guy's personal pot for the week, and the driver stole it?? Yeah that has to be it! ;)

More misinformation

"Didn't Bush give Mexicans free passage for their trucks?"

NO. NAFTA did that.

Since that was enacted in 1994 - ELEVEN years ago - it was in Bubba's term; not either Bush's.

They just want to come here for a better life, to work and feed their familys. For preferential treatment, free medical, the right to vote and not have to worry about becoming a citizen. After all we are the worlds welfare system.:cuss:
If I spoke my true opinion I would be banned from THR. This is a great forum and I'd like to keep it that way.;)
