Someone I know has a 8" Colt King Cobra 150th anniversary edition.

They've been asking be about he value, but I can't find anything on that specific model.

Anybody know what they're worth?

I'm curious as to the grips/stocks having the 150th medallions or does the gun actually have something itself on it stating the 150th anniv ?
The grips/stocks don't give ANY extra value themselves. I've had several with the 150th anniv grips, so they are not rare or even hard to find.
If the gun itself is marked, how is it marked ? Electrically, chemically etched, Engraved ?

Pictures would be nice.

Not mine, but I'll ask.

Thanks.

I do remember that the hammer was jeweled and it had a very light trigger.

As for the marks, I don't remember.

There are no markings.

It is a 4 digit serial number. The number is also on the box which says it is a 150th anniversary.

Both the hammer and trigger are jeweled.

The only marking on the grip is the Colt emblem.

Sorry, no pics.

On the grip medallion, it will most likely have a very small 150.
As far as the jeweling goes, that could have been done at anytime.
Factory or after market. Does the box reflect any markings as it camne from the Colt Custom shop ?
The gun has more value being an 8 incher that it does being a 150th anniversary gun.
The 8 inch King Cobra's are very hard to find. You'll find 20 4 & 6 inchers before you ever find a 8 incher.

Sorry, my mistake.

It is a 6" and not an 8".

However, there is a proof stamp.... in the trigger guard?

It is an inverted triangle with a P in it?

This is through conversation on the phone, I know a picture would help but I am unable to get one at this time.

All of them have that.
Sorry to hear it's a 6 incher and not an 8. The 6 is the most common tube.

I had a early 8" and got rid of it (88/89?) because I just didn't like lugging the thing around , but it had excellent action and shot like a laser. Sure wish I had kept the gun, but I guess I could say that about 99% of the guns I have had and got rid of over the years.

Update

The pistol has an emblem proof on the left side.

It has the pony with the spear in it's mouth and the lance on it's fore legs.

The trigger is ridiculously smooth in DA and very light and crisp in SA.

The box says 150th anniversary on it too.

Any Ideas on value?

Hey Notenough

Dinked around on GunsAMerica and see that the prices are all over the map.

600-1100 is a crazy wide range for a standard revolver, let alone a special edition.

I really don't know what to advise you.
