I messed up a "favorite"!
I no ight some oversized balls and apparently bent the loading lever where it drops with every shot damnit!
Till I replace the lever I thought up using black plastic tape to hold it in place while I shoot, works OK.
Well this revolver is what I call a "Cloverleafer" as that's what it does at 7 yards (even with the oversize balls).
I don't know what makes this revolver so accurate but I load it with 30 gr of Pyrodex a felt wad and use number 11 Remington caps, pinched tight.
This is one I,d depend on for life and home, it's that good!

reduce your powder load try 20 or 25 grs, that might solve the problem and might even improve your accuracy a little more.

I've actually never used the loading lever on my Remmy. :D I shoot it a lot, too. Get a press, a lot easier.

I have a cheap Traditions, but plan to upgrade to this eventually. Traditions works, but this is better made and can load .31.

I have an accurate Remmy, too. I load it with 30 grains equiv. pyrodex, but cornmeal filler. I keep it hanging on the head board in a western holster loaded, first gun I can get to in a hurry and it really looks cool there. :D

Unfortunately, blackdawg is not conducting business right now because of an accident in their plant in May. The fire critically injured a son and destroyed much of their manufacturing facilities. THey are uncertain whether they will ever come back from it.
I hope they do, I was ready to order a loader 2 months ago when I learned of the tragedy.

I've never used the loading levers on any of my revolvers either, much easier to use the loader.I bought mine from blackdawg in january when i started shooting BP.
I read about the explosion right after it happened, sorry to hear about them not reopening, the lady i spoke to when i ordered my loader was very nice.

How is it easier to use a loader vs using the built in ram?

A fellow here made me a nice compact folding wooden loading stand, and with it I see it being easier than removing the cylinder for loading, not to mention bring that along with my shooting box, which is big and heavy enough.

Where the loader really shines is when using conicals. They don't fit under the loading lever of my ASP 58' and if you pre started them in the chamber before rotating under the loading lever they hardly want to go in straight.

If your only using Round balls the guns loading lever is nice unless your trying to use one size round ball for all guns. I have a 58' rem and ROA so simplicity in RB is nice.

Plus, I find the loader MUCH faster to load with. I dump out 6 powder charges, drop six balls on, press 'em bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.....done! Well, I left out the cornmeal filler. Yeah, conicals are beset loaded on a press, too.

DAMN! Wonder if there's an alternative other than my 15 dollar Traditions which works, but I really wanted a quality loader and one that would press .31 conicals as well. Maybe I need a hobby lathe some day.

Big Lube Bullets makes a nice one too. All welded and in stainless now I believe.

^This

I bought the press from Dick Dastardly. It's pretty darned stout.

The wife and I have shot many a timed fire match at Friendship using just
The loading lever on the gun. No problem. Timed fire is defined as 10 shots
In 10 minutes.

I've noticed over the last couple of years these revolvers are really getting popular which puts us old shooters like ZVP in a bind. No spare parts. I've had parts on back order from April of this year from a company that is noted for its customer service, and they said they can't get parts because the manufacturers are busy enough just keeping up with demand on completed guns.

Black powder, I reckon, is alive and well!!

I just bought another gun for parts when I needed something. They aren't that pricey.:D

P.S.
You tell Momma you're buying it for parts so she says OK. Then later you buy the part you needed in the first place and then you have TWO guns!

If your gun just has a bent loading lever you can take it off and straighten out. But most times on a remington if you ever stress the loading lever it bends or breaks the screw that holds it in. Easy fix either way.
