Mods - sorry about posting this here, but it wouldn't really belong in the handguns for sale section.

I won't bore everyone with a long explanation, so let me sum up - unless I suddenly get hired by one of the many places I've applied to, I won't be able to keep the lights on or the water going. I don't even have enough food for the rest of the month, so bills aren't really the biggest concern. This being the case, I've decided to sell off my guns - only one is blackpowder, though.

An "1862" snubnose, actually an 1861 frame, Pietta. I've drawfiled the "blackpowder only" and ".36 caliber PIETTA" off the barrel, polished it nicely, and re-blued the whole thing. Included is a holster (with moderate wear from the revolver), loading tool, nipple wrench, powder measure, capper, and a few boxes of Hornady round balls (about 150 balls altogether). I've fired it less than 60 times that I can remember - only brought it to the range twice. I still have the original box for it, too.

All together, this stuff cost me about $220. I'm asking $150 or best offer. If you're interested, PM me and post that you've PMed me. If you feel like offering over what I'm asking, that's good too. :D

Do note that this model is no longer in production, nor does Cabelas still sell it.

Sometimes, you just have to say to yourself "well, I can't eat a piece of steel." :(

If you can't buy this but still want to help a guy out with a few dollars, or a nice letter/e-mail/pm, go right ahead. Every little bit, even encouragement, helps in a situation like this.

Tell me more about how you reblued it. Cold blue?

How about a picture of your “drawfiled the "blackpowder only"
and ".36 caliber PIETTA" off the barrel, polished it nicely”

How did it shoot?

Hope you have a job soon. Best of luck to you.

While waiting for my wife at Wal-mart I saw a guy standing at
the entrance to the parking lot with a cardboard box with the
word “Homeless” scrawled on it. I watched him for about a hour
and if the people who were giving him bills were all one dollar
bills then he was making around $100. Per hour.

Wow - I may have to go to Walmart.... I did use cold blue, it ended up looking a bit mottled but looks very good in any case. I don't think I sold the camera yet, I'll snap some pictures of it and post later. :)

As for how it shot, better than I could; I'm terrible with pistols.

Thanks for your interest.

Go ito the banking business!

Well if you can't sell it why not try closing a few bank accounts with it?
Seriously though, wish I could help but from this distance it's a bit difficult.
Good luck though.

Ya gets more with a kind word ana pistol than ya gets witha kind word alone! was that dilinger?

:)

Keep it!

You may need that snubnose someday to protect the CT border if we get invaded by Mass., or in the event of a national emergency! ;)

I borrowed a friend's camera and took these pictures - couldn't get the closeup function working properly for the barrel area, but to anyone who is interested in buying it; the area I filed, polished, and reblued is smoother than what Pietta had for a finish. :D

The downside of cold bluing, as you can see, is that it does come out mottled. This is after three coats, so it's the best it'll be with what I had.

Everything pictured in the box (150 balls or so, nipple wrench, capper, powder measure, loading tool) is included with the revolver.

The cold blue is not a concern to me but the shape of the
barrel is. I don’t want a swamped barrel, sharp corners
rounded off, holes washed out. That type of thing I don’t
want. If you can’t get a good picture of the barrel your word
is good enough for me.

In the pictures it looks like the grip doesn’t fit? Has it been
sanded down? Replaced?

I hope that you find your job but if not, maybe look outside
the box. You have talent in more then one area. When I was
in school I worked for my self. Think outside the box.

Best to you.

The holes are fine, the barrel is not unintentionally tapered, etc. Everything still fits correctly (or at least as correctly as it can, given a Pietta!)

The grip isn't fitted correctly - it's too small entirely. I never got around to making a new one, unfortunately. Still feels fine in the hand to me, though.

I'll try to get better pictures later today.
