Just wondering what this might be valued at. Searching for some insurance to cover some of dad's nicer things. This one is immaculate. And I have no clue as to value.
Those are beautiful examples of German gunmaking. I regrettably sold mine last year while thinning the herd. Mine had a couple of small issues that I don’t see on yours, I got $450 so you could say yours is worth $500.
Beautiful rifle! In that condition I would not be surprised if it went for four figures on Gunbroker with the current high prices. Your lucky to have it.
Still, even in that immaculate condition, Chileans have not traditionally commanded a super premium in the Mauser world. Im saying $550-600, but with Bidinflation and Coronapocalypse......I dunno. Completed auctions on Gunbroker probably the most accurate guage of current value.
What a beautiful specimen! And to think I had one just like it in the same apparent condition as those photos. Mine was also 100% matching numbers right down to the cleaning rod. I wish I still had it but, decided it was too nice to shoot. Sold it in Sept. 2007 at a gun show for the $350. price I was asking. The buyer didn't even try to talk me down. That left me wondering if it was worth more? IIRC it cost me close to two hundred bucks in the early 1990's and that was a lot for a Mauser in those days. These days I'm unfamiliar with prices on that sort of stuff and if I had to guess it would be almost double what mine went for in 2007 or a bit less. NIGHTLORD40K might be in the ballpark with his estimate. That would be my "guesstimate" as well.
Heres some current Sold Chili prices. Crazy prices these days. I have a bunch of Marlin .22 Rifles that were in the 100-200 buck range a couple years ago. Now they are selling for 3,4,500.00. Some of the semi autos 500.00+. Seems a lot of the stimulus and 1K a week money is going into guns. Bad if a buyer. Great if a seller. https://truegunvalue.com/rifle/chilean-mauser/price-historical-value/used/1
