Had fun playing with my Walther (Colt Gold Cup Trophy) 1911-22 today.
Last time out I was using Aguila 40 grain SE ammo and had two cases rupture. I ended up getting rid of that ammo and today tried CCI Mini Mags and Federal 550 Blue Box. Both 40 grain loads.
I started with the Minis and had no failures at all in 100 rounds. My confidence in the gun increases 10 fold. I only shot at 10 yards but I was able to keep all shots inside the X ring of a Bianchi Target. That's 4 inches.
I then shot the Federal ammo and had the same experience. Everything went 100%.
I really like shooting this gun. It is 80% compatible with standard 1911 parts and I've replaced the hammer, sear and sear spring with a Cylinder & Slide Accurizing Kit. Trigger went from 9.5 pounds on my Lyman Digital Scale to 4.5 pounds and I'm satisfied with that.
