Trijicon Brand night sights are Tritium sights. So they'll have the same 12 year life. I have some sights that are quite old and look fine.

Trijicon is one brand. Meprolight is the other. I haven't seen any other types of Tritium sights.

Then again I hate complex night sights. too messy and confusing for my eyes. I get mixed up. Do I aim with the black sight body? The White ring? The lamp? When I'm under pressure and need to focus quickly this kills me.

I prefere plain black sights, or maybe a front fibreoptic only. Simple, Clean, and fast.

Say hello to MY little friend, It is ever thing I expected a new Colt to be. Awesome!:D

Lol how much was the gold cup Bowman 1962?

Zerodefect thank you for that clarification. I was under the impression it was two different brands. But I don't really have a problem with night sights, I actually like the sights with the white ring around the tritium. Plus this will be a carry/night stand gun. Which I keep my house BLACK at night, can't sleep otherwise. So I really am leaning towards the night sights.

As of 2011 are there any NEW commander length bobtails to be had for right at the $1000 mark? I heard that cz-usa was discontinuing the CBOB and going straight to the VBOB...which has quite a mark up on it.

But they're so hard to find in my area

If you tell us where that is maybe we can help.

Tell you what, if you want to light up a dark area maybe you should consider a railed gun and drop a Surefire X300 on it.

I have one of the new Sig Tacops Commanders and the gun flat out runs. I'm about 400 rounds into it without a hiccup and feature wise it's hard to beat. You've already gotten over the external extractor and Sig has worked out all of the early issues they ran into. Compare features and you'll see what I mean. I bought mine on Gun Broker but from a local dealer for $950, walked into the store and their tag price was $1150.. many dealers sell on GB at lower prices to be more competitive.

Sig Tacops Commander

They are still hard to find and just hitting the market, shop around and you can probably snag one for under a grand.

I do like the pulsing lasers and bright tactical lights, but I don't like the look of a railed 1911, and sigs/taurus are pretty much my least favorite 1911 manufacturers :/ I just don't find them visually appealing, maybe I haven't given them a chance but who knows, they could wear on me. But I highly doubt the railed look would. I would prefer these specs. Full length barrel, high rise beavertail, strong side safety, fixed night sights, single stack capacity, forged frame/ slide ( other than the frame and slide I am not concerned with MIM parts, they can be replaced easily enough) but the huge seller here would be customer service and lifetime warranty. Checkering, extractors, serrations and finish really don't bother me either way. I love stainless, black oxide, and duo-tone. Just none of that OD green, tan, or any crazy dura coat.
Would you happen to have a picture of your sig? Or is it basically all stock?

Oh...maybe I should specify this weapons POU. It will be EDC, occasional range time (just to keep familiar) and a night stand gun. Eventually I would like to acquire a range pistol and a XDM for home defense with a tactical light (why I wouldn't get the railed 1911.) So over the next year I am planning on purchasing this 1911 for carry OC and CC. An XDM for home. A .357 revolver (686 or gp-100) as a just in case/vehicle gun. These are the definates and they will all serve a different purpose. Granted it would be smarter to have one gun that does it all, but I need a REASON for purchasing all of them lol. Still haven't found a reason to purchase a .454 Alaskan yet....since there are no chances of me running into a huge 4 legged creature, but im still looking. Lol.
