Here’s the deal:
I’m having a 1911 built and really, really, really want a GI style spur hammer, but I also want the comfort and look of a beavertail grip safety. Has anyone ever seen this done? My smith is asking if I want to bob the hammer (definitely not) or the grip safety (which I would rather no do). I have asked him if he can machine a “pocket” or recess into the grip safety, and he is going to try with some junk parts to see if it is possible, but we are starting to have doubts.
If anyone has seen this done, or anything close to what I’m talking about, please post pics, or tell me where I can look.
Thank you all in advance.
Fred
