Just recieved an excellent used Norinico 1911A1 the other day. Everything looks good with one exception. The left side of the hammer is rubbing against the slide cutaway. This leaves the left side of the hammer showing the base steel since this rubbing/contact has worn the blue off the hammer.

I ordered an EMC wide spur hammer from Brownells and this is an excerpt of the description of this part:

Tool steel, hardened hammer gives your pistol the look of early production military and contract style 1911’s. Heat-treated to RC 46-52 and machined to dimensions traceable to National Bureau of Standards specifications. Top of hammer is checkered for a positive grip and sides are tapered for clearance.

So, I assume this will alleviate the rubbing condition. Correct?

It should. The question now is...Why is the original hammer rubbing? If it's because the hammer is too wide or the recess too narrow, that's not a major issue. If it's because the pin hole isn't drilled straight...and I suspect that this is the case, since only one side is making contact...it may or may not be a problem. If the hole through the hammer is cattywampus...no problem. If it's the hole in the frame...Could be bad JuJu.
