1911 Long slide questions...

Apparently my luck is not with me today in searching the Internet. I want to build a long slide 1911 in .45, but I have a 1911 itch now.

If I pick up a standard in 5", can I convert later to a long slide? IE barrel, spring, slide, and fitting?

Forgot to mention, if it matters the gun that is itching at me right now locally because of price is a Colt 80 series.

Any 1911 smith worth his salt can fit a correct longslide setup to your frame.
