I have a box of original GI .45 acp mags. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find rebuild kits for them. Or is it not reasonable to rebuild a mag and I just need to buy new ones?
i dont know about kits but i know metalform sells mag parts. quality followers and wolf springs. if you have a whole box, thats a good thing, as metalform does huge discounts if you order in bulk
I wouldn't think you'd need anything but replacement springs if you need anything at all for original GI magazines. If they are 7-rd and have the flat, dimpled followers a Wolff 11# magazine spring should make them just about perfect. Wolff GunSprings
Check first to make sure they lock the slides back in your 1911's. If not, the follower probably needs to be replaced as well. 1911Tuner will probably be chiming in soon. He's helped me with magazine problems and I'd trust anything he tells you.
Already got good advice. If the magazines are truly WW2-era GI contract mags, new springs should be all you need. Or...if they're the real deal...I'll buy'em from ya.
