i ran into a little extra money "sweet" and wanted a 1911 any ways for under 700 there is

ria 1911
Taurus PT1911
para-usa-gi-expert
s/a 1911 type

i was going to buy used or a ria should i just stick to that idea.... i like the idea of the taurtus having a non cast frame but have been told that a cast is also ok... i can also buy 2 ria or buy 1 of the others

RIA or S/A. Spartan is a good base gun as well. Stay away from Taurus. Too iffy.

RIA, Springfield, STI any of these is well worth the money and will be a great way to get into the 1911 game, but dont be supprised if it becomes an addiction and you end up with a safe full of 1911's. welcome to the dark side.

My brand new COLT Commander cost $730.00 out the door (including VA sales tax). All of the standard 1991/80 Series Colts retail for $699.00

There is no reason to consider buying anything else, unless you just have something against owning a COLT. If you have $700 to spend on a 1911, you can own a legend that was built right here in the USA.

Last time I checked they were selling Kimber Pro Carrys for $750 at Sportsman's Warehouse.

I've never seen the new Colt Commander models for that cheap. I bought that exact same gun (series 80, blue finish) and paid a little over $800. $699 seems pretty low.
