1911: Two Piece Guide Rod Necessary?

I believe one reason for the two piece design is that you can remove(turn) the bushing when it's not in "full battery" with the bbl. That reduces wear on the bbl/bushing.

Not important for most, but if you just spent big bucks on a match bbl and you measure your groups by the 1/4", then...not a bad idea.

As stated above, turning the bushing on the barrel in battery could cause wear, but I think use of a 2 pc. applies more to a match-fit bushing in a bullseye or target gun, rather than a production-fit bushing. I have the regular FLGR in the SW1911, and I've field-stripped it enough times so that its no big deal by now, but the G.I. guiderod & plug is a simpler way to go, since you don't need the damn wrench every time.
