In addition... 1911's are...

Picky.
High maintenance.
Heavy.
Old-Fashioned.
A pain to disassemble.
Unreliable when compared to 'modern' pistols.
Expensive.

...And... BEAUTIFUL...

:neener:

Look at what followed me home tonight...

I will agree with:

Heavy
Old fashioned
Expensive (in some cases)...but that's only because its worthy of being manufactured at that level.

and of course, beautiful.

I haven't experienced the rest in any of my 1911's yet.

It's been years since I've had a .45 ACP. I think I'm falling in love all over again.

I just think to myself, 'Man, look at that big fat bullet.'

I have never understood that "hard to disassemble" comment.

They basically fall apart in seconds when you want them to. They usually stay assembled if you don't want them apart.

Of course, I use the old school main spring guide and spring plug.

The first half of the post had me wanting to quote MFP Charlie to MFP Roop in Mad Max: "You're blaspheming again. I don't have to work with a blasphemer."

I have a 1911A1 clone by AutoOrdnance, not the best I am told, but the gun I shot in handgun carry permit certification.
It is one of the handguns I shoot in military matches at the local gun club:
1911A1 clone
Webley Mark IV
Mauser C96
CZ 52
H&K USP

The older, classic three are just more fun to shoot.

That description sounds more like some women I have known. Other than some of mine being on the expensive side, I never experienced any of the rest.

You forgot:

"Timeless"
"Classic"
"Ingenious"
and...
"Hides her age well even though she's over 100 years old".

And they are so obsolete.....dozens of companies are building them now. Seeing Sig, S&W, and Ruger making 1911s feels to me like seeing Ford, Dodge, and Toyota building Camaros. :)

If I had to replace my Kimber tomorrow, I would likely start at a Ruger.

Attention Media: the 1911 holds 100 bullets in its clip! :D

Followed you home? Led you home. Welcome home and nice pick up!

My LGS has an SR1911 with a "Not For Sale" tag on it, and they're not accepting any new orders for them, dumber than dogs#!+!

I handled one of the SR1911's at a LGS recently, and was impressed. These are giving the Springfield Loaded models a real run for their money.
