Sad story, happened locally.
Long story of multiple mishaps, but as a condensed version
2 yo riding in back seat finds boy friends .40 cal semi auto, picks it up off floor and shoots mom (driving) in the back killing her.
Haven't had a 2 year old running around in over 20 years, but does this sound possible. Even a polymer guns weight, 5-6# trigger pull? Boy friend was a security guard so I'm guessing a standard issue pistol.

Another? Didn't some lady in Florida just get shot in the back by her kid who found her .45?

What is it with people and unsecured firearms floating around in the back seat with kids?

Unless you work for one of the big international companies most of the time it's bring BYOG. **Some states exempt from BYOG due to requiring the company to own/lease the firearm**

That's practically identical to one report last year. And two where a baby supposedly got a pistol from its mother's purse; once in an apartment, another at a store. That's just the ones I noticed.

All of them were short of facts and faded entirely from the news within days.

It's the same as unsecured firearms in the home - a foolish invitation to tragedy as we've seen time & time again.

If you load a firearm, you need to maintain positive control over that firearm until it is unloaded. Leaving loaded guns lying around or "hidden" in an unsecured location is just dumb. Because kids. Adults who don't know gun safety. Etc.

Real classy. Kids not in child seats, and the kid unrestrained in the back with a loaded gun. What could go wrong? Besides, you know, everything? A disaster was coming for this family one way or another, but it's tragic even if it was preventable.
