The Brady Trash have issued their 2005 State Report Cards.

<stevelyn doing end zone happy dance>

The 2005 report cards are out http://www.bradycampaign.org and as I predicted on a thread awhile back either here or on TFL, I predicted Alaska would drop a letter grade when the Brady's updated their report cards.

Well I like being right. Alaska has dropped from a D- to an.......................

F+ :D :D :D :neener: <applause, applause>

My condolences to you folks unfortunate enough not to have gained any ground in the socialist cesspools you're living in.:( :barf:

Texas only gets a D - because we require training for our CHL program. Darn it.

Also this claim as "extra credit".
Defeated NRA effort to force businesses to allow loaded guns in the workplace.

That's not exactly how I remember that happening.....What happened was Texas allows private property owners to decide what happens on their property. I don't actually have an issue with that.
It's funny how the Brady Bunch tries to spin it.

I do find it heartwarming that Brady currently has no active fights in Texas, I'm not sure they could find enough members here to fill a hotel room outside of Austin and Dallas.

Come on Kansas! You're only at a C-. All your neighbors have it together with concealed carry. Your time is here!

AZ-D...but our CCW training requirements went down since they put this together, and may disappear completely for renewals. We got A- ratings from Brady for restricting access to kids - now I know what we need to over turn!

Not only did we in Florida drop from a D to an F+, we got SPECIAL demerits for having enacted the nation's first shoot first law!!!!!!!
:neener:

Yes, you can all applaud now thank you.....

When you drop to "F-" I'll consider a move. (Ditto for Florida . . . and there's hardly ever any snow there!) ;)

I'm in NC and when I saw that they gave a "D" for carrying Concealed Weapons Law, I laughed my butt off.

Our concealed carry law is so restrictive, I basically get to carry on weekends...if I don't go to a financial institution's property, any bar or other location that sells alcoholic beverages, any property that posts I can't carry, any city, town, county, or state park... And the list goes on and on.

I guess "carry" in NC means driving up and down Interstate 40 all day with a revolver or pistol hidden from view. Sheesh... :banghead:

I took a quick glance at the Virginia page and noticed that we get credit for having a one-gun-a-month law. Handguns yes, unless you have a carry permit, but there is no limit on long guns.

I wonder what else they've missed. Well, not really, because I don't care what they think.

D- for New Hampshire! Gah...need to get that back to an F!

There's some wrong on there, too. Some BS about "ballistic fingerprinting of guns required previous to sale: partial"....Um... no? I've never heard of anything like that, here!

Not that it does much good if you put on a new barrel off eBay... :scrutiny:

D-, and the "crime" that makes the paper is usually something like public drunkeness. I love it. :D

SC is only D+ ?!?!? At least we got demerits for repealing the collector's restriction (Brady calls it "anti-tfafficking") one handgun per 30 days limit, and for eliminating the unnecessary, useless, and (IMHO) unconstitutional "record-keeping" of handgun purchases by our State Law Enforcement Division.

Now, if we can get the "Castle Doctrine" law passed, AND repeal the stupid "Saturday Night Special" / melting temperature law, we'll be a sure bet for an "F" rating!:D

Wow. Ohio gets a D- even with all the poison pills in our crappy CCW law. Looks like what we need to work on is the whole "can't sell (or give) a long gun to a minor or handgun to an <21" thing. It looks like even if we cleaned up the CCW law we still wouldn't get an F+. Oh well. No reason not to try.

Maine got a D- as did New Hampshire and Vermont! Looks like the North east is allright. Id like to see us all become F-'s though.

As for the rest of the new england states rhode island got a B- and connecticut and massachuesetts failed with A-'s

I think Maine, New Hampsire, Vermont should form a Tri-state confederacy. Against southern new england

Brother in Arms

D- for Oklahoma, Still some room for improvement. I think this years Stand your ground law should just push us over the edge.:)

LOL yes, Ohio needs to "improve". I'd like to see the State preempt the gun control crazy big cities cities like Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, and Dayton.

Missouri has dropped to a D+. Hopefully we'll go lower for 06. They like that fool permit to acquire a handgun, since apparently that NCIC check that they pushed for isn't quite good enough (morons).

You know, one look over what they grade states on is enough to put a lie to anything they say about not wanting a complete firearm ban.

Goergia got a "D", but I'll bet we can get an "F" if we can pass the "stand your ground" bill! C'mon, Georgians - the vote is today; call your state senators!

Hmmm, Washington gets a D-. I guess our shoot first law doesn't get us any demerits since it's always been that way here.

We need to enact school ground ccw to put us over the top :)
