2005 Brady Grades Are Out. What's Your Report Card Say?

I see the Brady Campaign is still incapable of figuring a GPA. There is some grade inflation especially in the middle range, Nebraska is particularily amusing.

Liberal math - for when the numbers don't add up... :scrutiny:

What a surprise. My state scored an A-.

As I suspected, the "worst" any of the states I am considering for relocation scored was an F, and the "Best" among the relocation candidates was a D+. Now, to ensure that my wife does NOT see these listings ...

NV earned a D, but it should probably be lower.

That list claims that NV allows its cities to set their own gun laws and the state doesn't pre-empt.
A quick check at Packing.org confirmed this to be false on most counts. Individual cities may set safe discharge laws but thats about it. The law clearly states that other than the afore-mentioned exceptions, the state law is final.

A D ain't bad though.:neener:

This is depressing. NC got a C. I figured we would have got a C- since those of us who have a carry permit dont have a waiting period for (Title I) anything.

Funny, I actually think Virginia's gun laws are pretty lax. I was surprised at the C. Must be that one-handgun a month law propping us up.

Oh well, once we get a non-statist Dem out of the gov's office we'll work on repealing that.

I reckon Montana could get an F- if we went to a Vermont/Alaska style carry (permit not required). We had a bill introduced to do just that in 2005 but it failed (damned Democrats:fire: ) but I am still hoping for 2007.

Overall, I think we must have the best gun laws in the country, in spite of needing a permit to CCW inside city limits. Actually, I think you could justify CCW even in town if you were "Hiking" or other "outdoor activity", because the law states the exemptions as an OR instead of AND ;)

I feel pretty good after reading that report card. I live in a good state and am moving in a few months to an even better (D-) state.

However, I don't feel good for you poor folks in the B-and-up states. My condolences; we're thinking of you.

By the way, D.C. is listed as a "B". I find this inexplicable, and reading the entry doesn't help explain it. The only thing they list that keeps DC from being a perfect gun dystopia is the fact that Congress can (not has) set aside D.C.'s local gun laws! What a strain.

Frankly, I suspect they realized that giving D.C. the "A" or "A+" that it deserves would render their report card so obviously laughable -- everyone knows that D.C. is America's crime capital -- that they simply fudged the grade.
