I've been shooting squirrels since I was a boy...never had squirrel stew!

Oh, and congrats!

That's actually just squirrel and dumplings.
Just use your favorite chicken and dumplings recipe, but instead of chicken use 3-4 squirrels.

I use Paula Deen's recipe that can be found here.
https://www.pauladeen.com/recipe/chicken-dumplings/

I boiled these for an hour and a half before they were to my desired tenderness, so it does take a little longer. Good payoff though.
My wife and daughter have lived in the subdivision too long and won't eat squirrel, so I had that pot of dumplings to myself. lol

Got this piggy in Hawaii in early march. Will hopefully have a black bear soon if I can keep the grizzlies off the bait.

That squirrel stew looks good. We used to shoot a lot of them in England when we had vermin shoots. As they are classed as vermin they were left where they fell. The grey squirrels carry, Squirrel pox, that is deadly for the native red squirrels You can buy sectional poles for drey poking . We only have red squirrels here in Sweden and i think there is more meat on a butchers pencil than on one of those.

Roe deer buck spring season has been underway for three weeks now. A very nice mature buck has been showing up near my feeder but not touched it (?!).

After the storm on saturday a birch had fallen down nearby and what do you know, I spotted a roe deer munching on the leaves at around 10pm. A doe. Damn. But... bucks typically follow does so I waited and kept my rifle ready. Half an hour later this guy showed up. Took a .308 through the lungs at 60 yards or so, ran 50' and dropped dead under a spruce.

Pretty light here up north this time of the year. The photo was taken after 11pm, at dusk and still daylight.
