I always try to shoot my deer uphill, because at 52, I hate dragging them uphill. The last one jumped downhill 75 feet after I shot him. I had to shove his teeth in the ground for traction. He decided to jump off a 70* bank. That almost killed me.At 63 & 66 we consider the drag out before we shoot a deer. It has to be a flat drag or a down hill drag.
My brother had a work place accident and had two disc in his back that got shattered and is according to his doctor 87% disabled so the drag out is our main concern before we shoot a deer.
There has been a lot of opportunities to shoot a bunch of deer, but they have to be an easy drag out.
All it really takes to change that is each one of us to mentor one (1) new hunter into the sport. Two and you're increasing the number of hunters. So far I've mentored five and intending to reach ten by the time I retire. When our generation dies off the hunting will come to an abrupt halt.
We went walkies today.......all I shot were pictures.....
Seen a couple sheep, but couldnt get my dad or my friend from work set up to shoot before they boogied.

Just moved to New Hampshire and missed the early duck split because I had to get my hunters cert transferred but made the best out of late season and shared it with my daughter. 3 Trips, 2 geese and 3 ducks, 2 of which were black ducks that were off limits in Maryland and VA. Alot of fun, loving it up here.
