22 magnum......

Some one use to (and maybe still does) make some sleeves you can push into a 22 mag. cyl., and then safely shoot LR's in the mag. cyl...

Yes they do work just fine, I have some...

With normal 22 lr you occasionally get a bit of lead splatter. I have never seen it with a shotshell though. I wouldn't recommend anyone else doing it either way. Regardless of what I actually do. I also have more scars and healed bones than most.

If it's a matter of life and death, you can get away with it, but you lose a lot of velocity and accuracy doing it.
Like shooting .223 in a .222 Mag. You can do it, but that doesn't make it a good idea.

Accuracy wouldn't suffer in a shot shell I wouldn't think. That's what the op asked about.

But yeah it usually does suffer in the convertable 22/22mags when shooting regular bullets. All mine shoot 22 pretty poorly

My ranch gun is an old three screw Ruger Single six 9.5" convertible with the .22 mag cylinder in place with CCI rat shot in first three chambers and two 40 grain hollow points in the last two (not converted, I load 5 rounds into it and down on an empty chamber. ) CCI .22 Mag Rat shot is twice as effective as .22lr shot in that revolver with the .22LR cylinder in place.

Mine is a new model but I have done the same with 4 mags and 2 rat shot.

When I bought my 329pd my plan was 4 magnums and 2 snake shot. Unfortunately the recoil from a magnum in that gun busts the rat shot and the pellets fall everywhere. 20170415_162907.jpg
