I just received an "extra power" recoil spring for my K9 with a 22 pound load rating, thinking my original spring was getting long in the tooth and wanting something up to snuff with Winchester's 127gr +P+ Rangers and others of the ilk that I occasionally put through it.
After the installation, I immediately noticed the amount of force needed to manually cycle the pistol is quite a bit more than what was needed before.
I'm under the impression the old spring was losing its tension, but this is a 22 pound spring, whereas the standard K9 spring is around 20 pounds IIRC.

Now here's the question: being a spring of slightly greater tension than what the K9 was originally intended to use, will this likely create feed problems such as short cycles using standard pressure ammunition? Not only am I concerned about feed issues using Winchester white box 115gr hardball I usually use for practice, but 147gr Rangers I’m now using for carry.

I fully intend to send a couple boxes of 147gr standard pressure Rangers down range before trusting my life with it, rest assured.
However, I would like to glean any experience possessed by THR collective on the issue, as I'm considering switching back to the 127gr +P+ Rangers for that extra recoil "oomph" to ensure reliable cycling.

I will submit this:

Who knows more about what weight spring should be in a Kahr pistol?
Kahr or someone else?

Kahr used to recommend changing out K9 recoil springs every 2000 rounds.

I'd strongly recommend ordering a new standard spring from Kahr.
That's what the gun was designed, built, and intended to work properly with.
By changing the spring weight, you may well have compromised your K9's reliability.

To paraphrase Fritz Hollings: "There's too much of that spring changin' goin' on".
