.22 Rifle Sight-In Question

The bullet crosses the line of sight at 25yds, is 1" high at 50yds, and on again at 75yds. Those are the optimal ranges for a 1250fps 22 long rifle round.

You should sight it in at the distance you expect to use it ... my target .22s are sighted in at 100 yards ... my carry/hunting .22s are sighted in at 50 ...
 
For hunting and general messing around, I prefer to sight in at 50y....

But, whatever you do, get the dope on your rifle and the load at various distances, slap that info on the side of your stock, and all is well come squirrel season! lol
 
I use the maximum point blank range method, with my vital zone criteria of + 0.5" for a rimfire used for something like squirrel hunting. For a .22LR, that means a zero of somewhere around 60-65 yards, depending on scope height, etc.
 
I use Remington Yellow Jacket ammunition and sight-in for 75 yards. For me it works great for both hunting and target shooting/plinking.
