.22 snub nose

A buddy who knows me well recommended a .22 snub nose revolver to me. LR or WMR. He personally recommended a Charter Arms Pathfinder. Cheap, good warranty. Anyone out there besides Charter make a snub nose steel frame .22LR/WMR ?

*Yes, I am so poor as to seriously consider .22LR/WMR for SD

I'd reconsider your choice of caliber. You can find a Taurus 85 for under 300. 22 mag is about $10 a box of 50. You can get 38 spl for $15 a box. Given the choice I'd take a 38. Buy a box of factory wadcutters for carry ammo.

The gun is cheaper and skip a six pack a month to make up the difference in ammo price.

Ok but if it's a Ruger it's built like a tank. Materials used don't matter right....?
Nope, they don't because while the Taurus might be steel framed, it's not US made like the Ruger is and we all know that US made guns made of polymer and aluminum are better than any foreign steel gun, herpa derp.

I'm missing something here. We are supposed to avoid the Pathfinder because it has a plastic grip frame; but the Ruger LCR is OK. I thought the Ruger's grip frame was also plastic.

I like the plastic grip frame. The recoil impulse is not as harsh with it. It doesn’t have the sting that all metal grip frame has. I compared my Charter Undercover directly to an older Rossi 351. Even though the Rossi was several ounces heavier, my Charter had less sting. Same with other brand snubs, I’ve shot.

For the OP and his woods walks and desire to shoot snakes one of the RIA 38 snubs might be a better choice. And the price for a new one shouldn't break anyones bank. They are just over $200 at Buds. And the 4" barreled version is a couple of bucks cheaper. 38 rat shot is a lot more effective than 22 rat shot.
