.22 still hard to find?

I haven't seen a brick in person for years. The last time I saw one, it had a $75 sign on it.

It looks to be widely available online, but never for less than $.10 a round.
 
The .22LR crisis going on 4 years now with no signs of letting up, if anything it will get a lot worse if queen Hillary get to the WH
 
It was in stock t several local stores around here a few months ago. $4/50 rounds, seemed common.

I imagine there is none around now being Christmas time and all. I wonder how lack of anything to shoot has effected .22 firearm sales. Sure would suck to be a kid and get a new toy you couldn't play with.
 
Here, low in the southeast, bulk ammo at "normal" prices around $0.05 to $0.06 per round is just now making it back to the shelves, but it doesn't last long & most stores limit the quantity you can buy. I got a 525 rd brick of Federal bulk from the local Gander Mountain for about $26.50 out-the-door last week, but there was only one more box left after mine. Still, that's the first .22lr bulk pack I've been able to buy locally in three years.

At least when I ask about .22 at LGS counters now, they don't laugh at me like they have been doing for the past 2 years.
 
In my neck of the woods, it is readily available where limits have been raised to 500 rds and no limits on 22 magnum.
 
Not readily available in Florida, I know a few gun shops that have small amounts (50 rd boxes and loose bags) and the gun show usually has some vendors with half-bricks but you will pay about 10 cents a round or more and not in large quantity.
 
It's getting a little better in central Arkansas. Around 2013, I couldn't find any .22. Not at anything less than ridiculous prices, anyway. Even the folks selling ammo at gun shows were complaining about having to buy privately to have any stock to sell. (Whether that was the truth is an entirely separate question.)

Fast forward a few years . . . I hit the same WM every few weeks. I don't have time to drive all over town looking for .22, so I just make an ammo run every few weeks. Either it's in stock, or its not. The WM that I go to doesn't usually have any .22LR in stock, but it's there often enough to keep me going back. It also has a 3 box limit per customer. Prices aren't too bad. I haven't seen any lately, but I think I paid ~6 cents per round last time I bought.

I buy a 3-box limit whenever it's in stock. As it turns out, the "3 box limit" includes those 500-round "boxes" . . . :evil:
 
I will be in Ark in a few weeks and I hit some Wal-Mart's mine been wreaked by the Swap Shop and local gun show Gang that line up at 5am on Thursday to buy it all up.
 
Just came from local Walmart they had Federal 325 count packs for $18.97 a piece. it's nice to see things back to normal. I feel that closer to next year election we will have another ammo availability crisis.
 
I have a .22 TCM so I shoot a lot of Armscor ammo through it. When I saw that Armscor had .22 LR I decided to order a brick to try it out. I've got to say I'm impressed with what I've shot. They seem to have a lot of it available and I paid 8 cents a round.
Check out ammoseek and do a search for Armscor. You can find it from 50 round boxes to 5000 round cases.
FWIW I gave their 9mm and .223 a try also and they all shot great.
 
Rare around here. About 3 weeks ago the local WalMart had cases of Automatch that lasted several days. I bought three 325 boxes. They and I thought things might be getting better. Nothing since.
 
Dunno if everybody is looking in the wrong place (Walmart only), but there is plenty if you just look, at least around here. Dunham's gets two shipments every week. Last time I was there they had over thirty bulk packs.

Cabelas, Bass Pro, and Gander Mountain had bulk packs on sale in their stores over Black Friday weekend.

I've bought over 4,000 rounds in the past six months. Only reason I haven't gotten more is cause I'm getting stocked up.

It has gotten better in the past year, but I certainly would not say it is readily available. Empty shelves are still the norm here in Kansas City. I have found a 325 pack of Federal Auto Match at Cabela's & Scheel's and maybe 600 rounds from Academy (2 50 round box limit per customer). A friend got two Federal 525 packs from Dick's on Thanksgiving.
 
While I can't speak nationally locally in the Cleveland, Ohio suburbs Dicks Sporting Goods in Macedonia, Ohio has had plenty on the shelves of both Remington and Winchester 100 cartridges limit of 3 of each flavor. Gander Mountain in Twinsburg, Ohio has had plenty of assorted 22 LR at reasonable prices. I have also found plenty at the new Cabela's on the North End, Columbus, Ohio plus Cabela's online has also had plenty come and go but seems to always have the expensive target stuff, I see the stuff even when I am not looking for it. :)

It depends on where I go. If I stop by the small lgs in the country parts, they don't have it. The lgs in my city does, but it's limited stock and it's $12/100 rds. The biggest gun store in the state 30 mins south of me has cases of it lined up against the walls... right when you hit the door; I can only imagine how much they have in the back.

Walmart, not often. If they have any, it's 50 rds of CCI standard velocity for idk how much money. Dick's I'm not sure, I rarely bother to go in there.

EDIT: So, it's not hard to find if you know where to look. I wish I could say that the closer stores near me would, but nope.
 
A new Dick' s (sporting goods chain) opened up very close to us here in Georgia a couple months back. Stopped by, my eyes zoomed to the Buckets o' Bullets. Big sale.

Went back the next day for another Bucket. Not bad: 2,800 rounds at just under .04¢/round. Won't see that again for awhile.
 
It's slowly becoming more available. Now might be the time to sell or wait until the next panic when prices shoot back up to $75 per brick. I'm sure you could find a buyer at $50 a brick without looking around too much
 
Last Tuesday morning, I had to go to Walmart to get a few things, and low and behold, they had some 22LR. They had Remington in 100-round boxes and Federal 40gr solids in 325-round boxes. I told the guy I wanted the Federals, and he asked me, "how many?" He said I could have 3, and this time, I got three. $16.97 per 325-round box. They had some of both the Federal and Remington, so I didn't feel bad about getting three. I'll use it.
 
Went to Cabela's a few weeks ago, nothin' but cobwebs on the shelves where .22s would be. Can't even remember the last time I saw it at Wal-Mart.
