So, tonight my wife and I stroll into our local podunk town grocery store for whatever we went in to get, and I happened to notice a small display of ammo on a shelf kind of close to the entrance. For those of you that haven't experienced small town American life, this is not at all unusual for this time of the year. So, I glanced to see what calibers they had. There were some .308, .30-06, .270, .25-06, and this one little box of .22 LR 500 rounds. The box was marked $3.99. I quickly looked at the prices on the the other caliber boxes, unfortunately they were between $21.00 and $29.00/box, so I grabbed the brick of .22s and headed for the register before my wife even knew where I had gone. I kept thinking, man surely it's a wrong sticker and the girl at the register will know the correct price when she scans the barcode. She scanned it, no price came up, so she entered $3.99 and hit enter! SWEET! I walked out grinning like a cheshire cat. I wish they had 5-10 more bricks. I'd have cleaned them out without thinking twice about it.
Since it didn't come up with the barcode I'm guessing it was old stock. They only bring the ammo out in the fall.
