A real Whitney!!!

They're wonderful shooters with a fantastic trigger. I'll put my Wolverine up against any Ruger semi-auto any day. They come apart easily in a minute, also, unlike the Rugers. There is one little part that may fall out if you're holding it a certain way so I'd disassemble it over a table or something. They're not cheap now but they're rising in value while most newer stuff will sink in worth. Buy one now and sell it in 10 years; you'll turn a good profit.

The SIG trailside is a great shooting little pistol but I have some doubts about long term durability. Couple that with questionable availability of parts. Mehhh.

The Model 41 and Ruger MKII are basically the standard for plinker 22 pistols. Very accurate and they will outlive you regardless of how much you shoot them.

P.S. Just got my Browning Buckmark Camper yesterday, which I got from THR member "PTK" - it is one nice looking little pistol - can't wait to shoot it. :)

Ruger Mark II. I had to look long and hard to locate a NIB Mark II this past year. I happened on a 50th Anniversay model...NIB!

Course, my 13-year-old daughter fires it more than I do. :banghead: Know what, if you have a wife or kids, better avoid the Mark II! :)

Post # 6 is "The Answer" But the Sig is a good choice. I had one. Sold to buy the S&W41. My friend has a Sig TS. It hits great. Shoots Bulk ammo with very little grief.

A fine TARGET PISTOL:

and a very nice PLINKER PISTOL:

If all you want is a trail shooter and plinker, a simple blowback action fixed sight pistol like the 4" Ruger taper barrel model of the MK 11 will do fine, and actually cause you less worry and finicky feeding than a target pistol will.

Some people in this thread are not making thoughtful recommendations, they're expressing their anxieties by saying "See what I have......look at me, at me, look at me!" like second born children.
