I think the most common load is 1.3 gr Bullseye, 50 gr FMJ
That penetrates 250 pages in the phone book.
If I work up from there to 3.2 gr, it penetrates 770 pages, but is still wimpy.
I cannot go any higher, as the case is full of powder.
If I switch to Power Pistol [a denser powder] it is ok up to 5.5 gr but at 6 gr sometimes the primer falls out.
With 4 gr Power Pistol, the recoil is about as bad as most people can stand it for one or two shots. I have shot 5.5 gr again and again just to show I can take the pain and noise.
I also worked up loads with AA#5, HS-6, and 800X, in addition to Bullseye and Power Pistol.
Power Pistol is still the best.
I get the same results in a Colt or a Beretta, but the Vesta 25acp has a sloppy firing pin fit, and will pierce primers between 2 and 2.75 gr Bullseye. That is a worthless pistol compared to the Colt 1908 and Beretta 950
