I refused to say "other" because that's literally hundreds or thousands. Between those three, the Vanguard easily. It costs a little more, but it's still a bargain and well worth it.
Definately the Vanguard from this list, but I have shot most of my game with a tang safety model 77 Ruger. I retired it after 22 whitetails, 2 mulies, 2 pronghorns and a bobcat.

I have an early 3 digit serial post war commercial FN in 270WIN. I only paid $350 and I wouldn't trade it straight across for any new rifle made today. Except maybe a Melvin Forbes rifle.

I've decide to go with the Ruger American chambered in 30-06. Accurate, reliable, and a wide variety of ammo.

I think the Tikka T3 is way better than the savage and vanguard for another 100 doggies, sold my savage to get a vanguard, sold the vanguard for the tikka .. My tikka is in .270 and is lighter and more accurate then the vanguard or savage.. no experience with the ruger

I'm curious to hear how the American shoots. I'm a definite Ruger fan who has put his money where his mouth is many times over but I've heard very little of the American rifle.

Anxious to hear your report!

My nephew picked up a Ruger American in .243 last summer. We have had it out several times and for a budget rifle it has performed quite well. If I find myself shopping for a new rifle any time soon it will be on my short list.

Good luck with your new toy.....
